So this is my Omnath Deck. A lot of people tend to build Omnath as an Elemental Tribal deck and I did initially as well. What I soon learned is that elementals as a tribe - while super sweet - are pretty mediocre overall. I still have a handful of powerful elementals in the list - Greenwarden of Murasa , Bane of Progress, and of course Avenger of Zendikar - but they are not the focal point of the deck. No, instead, I decided to take a certain kind of controlling approach to the game, playing a wide variety of enchantment and artifact hate, as well as land destruction that favors my deck - one designed to rebuild very quickly.

This is by no means a tier 1 deck, but it is extremely fun to play and to ruin friendships with.

Here's a rough break down of the way the deck ought to play:

Early Game: Ramp and Sweep. The Deck plays around 15 ramp spells and a handful of "play extra lands per turn spells", this is the best time to speed up the board, this is also a good time to use artifact and enchantment destruction (Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip). One thing the deck is vulnerable to is fast generals who have the potential to win very quickly, like Narset (the most common one for my play group). Given that my local meta plays a lot of Narset type decks and then a lot of midrangey decks (not a ton of fast combo), I have disproportionately favored sweepers over other types of answers, notably lacking much targetted removal.

Mid Game: The pivotal turns for this deck are 3 and 4. It's critical to deploy some sort of disruption or large ramp spell on these turns, ideally something like Rite of Ruin (powerful as it sweeps creatures and artifacts as necessary as well), Ruination , or Wildfire. These spells are back breaking to most decks, especially when coupled with artifact removal. Subterranean Tremors was in the deck initially and will likely make it back in because the strength of a sweeper that can also mass remove artifacts is very powerful. This strategy is strongest when there is an immediate means to get back lands from the graveyard (Crucible of Worlds, Splendid Reclamation). After this, the task becomes a simple matter of rebuilding lost resources, something this deck is designed to do very quickly. If not under a lot of pressure it is best to deploy Omnath BEFORE the LD.

Closing the Game: After disrupting opponents mana bases either with a mass LD spell like Ruination or with a Blood Moon, it is best to try and finish the game quickly. Amulet of Vigor + Perilous Forays will allow for getting every basic out of your deck and likely bolting someone to death, Greater Good and a bunch of Omnath tokens will let you bolt someone to death AND dump your deck into your graveyard for a massive lethal Splendid Reclamation utilizing Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle. There are also some pet cards in the deck that I enjoy and have proven to be great fun, most notably The Great Aurora. It's very effective when you use it to cause you opponents to shuffle 12 or 15, when you're shuffling 39.
