I assume it's intentional that you don't have any fetchlands in the list?

Folcon, only reason there are no fetchlands is because I don't own any hehe. They would be great in here. I'm hoping they get reprinted in the next modern masters

Maybe Groundskeeper in case you sacrifice too many lands? I think an alternate mechanic to extract value from "too many lands" would be to put in more Moonfolk. Uyo, Silent Prophet, Soratami Savant, etc. Sweet deck, love the concept.

Thought I'd share my version to possibly give you some ideas. A standout card that I think could be really strong in your list is Abundance, especially in conjunction with Sylvan Library if you can get it.

Miscalcul8edRisk, thanks for the feedback. Abundance is in my deck but I see I've made a mistake and forgot to list it! Problem is...I can't figure out what card is taking up its spot on the list. I may accidentally have 101 cards lol. I'll have to figure out this mess when I get home. Your comment made me realize my error though so thanks!
I'll take a look at your deck too :)

Miscalcul8edRisk, yup I had been running 101 cards including Abundance. Oops! Fixed the mistake.

Thought of another card for you: Perilous Forays. It goes REALLY well with landfall, and allows for repeatable triggers for 1 mana each with either Emeria Angel or Rampaging Baloths. Admittedly that card is always on my short list of includes but never seems to make the cut at 5 mana, but in a deck that is entirely devoted to landfall it seems too good not to include. Just make sure you have the requisite basic land count to support it.

I would also consider Ghost Quarter possibly even over Strip Mine since you can Ghost Quarter your own land to trigger Landfall. Strip Mine is the much better card in a vacuum but offers less interaction with your other cards. You'll also elicit much less hate and sideways glances from your opponents. You can do something similar with Path to Exile in a pinch if you can find room for it.

Miscalcul8edRisk, Nice suggestion on Ghost Quarter. I like the idea of being able to use it to destroy an opponent's utility land or my own land for a landfall trigger

I love this deck. It looks like a lot of fun to play.
I will say, there are a few pieces that have Landfall triggers but seem a little weak; namely, Retreat to Emeria, Retreat to Kazandu, and Guardian of Tazeem. These two retreats seem like they don't contribute enough to a win, and aside from being Landfall cards, they don't gel with your strategy that well. Guardian of Tazeem, in a lot of cases, won't do a whole ton in a 4-color deck that only runs 5 islands.
I also think Seer's Sundial performs poorly in a deck that has access to blue, which can draw so much more efficiently.
If it were me, I would think about swapping one of these out for the Exploration that has been suggested before. Even if it nets you one extra land, it's mana well spent.
That said, it looks like you are trying to stick to a budget, so here are some other suggestions:
Twincast and Reverberate are such versatile cards. I've scored them on things like Decree of Pain and Boundless Realms before, or I've used them to counter counters, etc... In a multiplayer game, copying someone else's great card can be just as good as including them in your own deck, or better, since you can pay significantly less mana for it.
I also love Time Stop for its versatility. It's a counterspell, a fog, a Stifle, or whatever you need it to be.
Cyclonic Rift isn't in here, and I feel like it should be in every single deck that runs blue.
I'm also a huge fan of Day's Undoing. It shuts down graveyard and tutor shenanigans, and casting it on turn 2 after Burgeoning all but guarantees you'll be a few steps ahead of your opponents throughout the game.
Aside from that, I'd recommend some more draw. Recurring Insight and Rhystic Study would both put in a lot of work here.
I'm really digging this build, and I'll be keeping an eye on what you're doing with it. It seems really solid.

NoSoyYucateco, thanks so much for the suggestions. A lot of the cards you mentioned are great but not so much on theme with the deck. (eg. Rhystic Study, Reverberate). I would be hard pressed to find room for them. The two retreat cards you suggested cutting actually do a lot of work in here. Once the landfall engine gets going, they anthem my team considerably. I know they look relatively harmless but they actually quite often work as win cons. As for Guardian of Tazeem, I don't really care about it's island ability (just a nice occasional bonus). It's used to tap down blockers to get my threats through or on opponents' turns politically.
I agree with you about Seer's Sundial. It would be handy in a landfall deck with no blue. With blue though I can do better. I've replaced it with Blue Sun's Zenith. It takes the sundial 6 mana to draw 1 card. 6 mana gets me 3 cards at instant speed with Zenith. Thanks for pointing out that it could be replaced :)
Only reason Cyclonic Rift isn't in here is because it is banned in my usual playgroup (ditto Sol Ring).
Exploration is a card I've considered. I don't own a copy. If I pick one up, I'll try it out.
Thanks again!

NoSoyYucateco, I bought and added Exploration. Gonna try it out :)

If you're going to pick any of the cards I mentioned to include, Exploration is probably the strongest one. Have fun with it!
I like Blue Sun's Zenith a lot, and it's a strong choice. The might be a bit obnoxious in a four-color deck, but see how it plays. If it's hard to swing, I think you'd get a lot out of Recurring Insight too. 6 mana for 10 cards or more, spread out over two turns, is pretty common. In fact, 10 is probably the least it's netted me. Sometimes I get 40 cards out of it, if someone has a Reliquary Tower out and is being greedy with the draw.

Lifegift seems pretty bad. You should consider Sword of the Animist as a possible replacement and source of repeatable landfall.

wasianpower, i agree that lifegift could be replaced. I think I will go for Harrow as opposed to sword of the animist though. It fits the land sacrifice sub-theme and works at instant speed. Thanks for your suggestion :)

Normally, I'd not consider this card but have you thought about Aggressive Mining

DrValium, thanks for the suggestion. It's certainly on theme as a land sac outlet with card draw. I think I'd be too scared of it backfiring though. Having an enchantment I can't get rid of and then being unable to play lands in a landfall deck.
March 6, 2017 1:41 p.m.
MegaMatt13 Understood! I agree that it would likely cause more problems but given that your commander forces them into play rather than playing them, it seems less dangerous.

Just got to thank you for posting this deck up. I've had more wins with it than any other deck. People still see this commander and a think group hug and do all the free things you'd want, like leaving you alone in early turns (DONT Sol Ring/Mana crypt this deck!) and starting beefs with each other. Retreat to Emeria, Bountiful Harvest typically let me go wide after several board wipes. I've tweaked this deck very little but played it alot. Constant Mists is just wicked good with all the extra lands and the SplendidRec setup. Walk the Aeons also works well with the land buyback for the same reasons and more than one game gave me Nissa's emblem or an Avenger of Zendikar swing. Wonderful deck. Bravo sir.

Forgot to also suggest Bring to Light. Was a card I always liked, never had the right deck for it and it shines here so well here, especially if you are evil and swap out Overwhelming Stampede for Triumph of the Hordes

aphexed667, that's awesome you're having success with the deck :) thanks for sharing your experiences.
Out of your suggestions, I like constant mists the best. It is totally on theme. Walk the Aeons would be great too but my playgroup bans extra turn spells unless they exile themselves (like Expropriate or Part the Waterveil).
What cuts did you do to make room for the changes?
March 8, 2017 10:35 a.m.
aphexed667 says... #23
I don't have Burgeoning or Exploration, not cuts really. I really like the idea the deck goes slow at first and lets people put you in last in their early threat assessment so those seem like dangerous T1 drops that would mess up my slow roll. I also cut Zuran Orb having more land sac outlets with Mists/Aeons and took out Song of the Dryads as boning someones commander with it would, again, draw hate.

aphexed667, totally understand your point about song of the dryads. I rarely use it on a commander unless it's a super annoying one that basically everyone else would agree on neutralizing. I just love the card because it's such flexible removal.
