Omnath's Green Machine

Commander / EDH*

Djinn_n_Juice

Version 2.0 Update:

Okay, so here is an Omnath build focused on ramping with elves, then smashing face with either Omnath or his buddies, Craterhoof Behemoth and Hydra Omnivore. A Dragon Throne of Tarkir on a pumped-up Omnath can also make my army of mana dorks fatal, especially with the evasion-granting cards I run, so the deck has a certain amount of flexibility--even if all my methods of winning involve attacking with large angry green things.

This build uses as many permanents as possible to take full advantage of Primal Surge and Genesis Wave. Both allow me to put a lot of permanents on the board all at once, and usually resolving either of these will put my opponents in a position to either (A) wipe the board immediately, or (B) die. Without Rout, they usually die. I hold Genesis Wave until I can cast it for 13 or more, and with Omnath and a few mana dorks I can usually get there very early.

"The Dream" is to play Primal Surge when I have already drawn Harmonize and Genesis Wave. When this happens, I can just turn over my entire library (or leave a couple cards in my library as a safety measure) and put it on the battlefield. This usually leads to a concession before I calculate exactly how I will demolish those who oppose me.

As long as I can get out a Vedalken Orrery, Yeva, or Winding Canyons, I don't worry much about someone killing Omnath. I can use some of my floating mana to just recast him immediately. The ability to cast creatures at instant speed is incredibly powerful here since I can leave mana open and keep my opponents guessing about how much I'm able to block.

I would like to include another one or two sac outlets to make sure I can keep my creatures from falling into someone else's hands, though. Greater Good would be hilarious with Omnath, and I should really get a copy for this deck. Phyrexian Altar would also be a good option.

I don't run a lot of removal other than Steel Hellkite because my flexible win conditions and deck speed make it seem like a better idea to just go for the kill and not worry about disrupting anyone else. This works a surprising amount of the time, despite the fact that I usually start getting ganged up on as soon as Omnath hits the board.

I would love suggestions for the best sac outlets with Omnath, or for permanents that could increase my card draw. Other than Regal Force, who I know is awesome, and need to get in here soon.

That's it! Thanks for reading :-)
