Omniscience & Omnipotence

Commander / EDH Combo Mono-Blue

JethroWilkins

So this is possibly my personal favorite homebrew deck that I own and I wanted to share the general design with the world. I thoroughly encourage players to amend my tech list here and make improvements, both for my sake and their own. Without further ado, I'm going to dig deep into why this monoblue draw-go deck is my favorite deck and why it could become your favorite deck, too!

Do you like playing blue and only blue? -I certainly do. Blue is my favorite color in MtG, followed closely by black. Having a game plan is definitely good, but having a response to your opponents' plans is often better.

Do you like drawing an absurd amount of cards? -Sign me up for this, too! It wouldn't be blue EDH without card drawing to the nth degree, so expect to have a huge hand via Alhammarret's Archive, Stroke of Genius, and our fearless leader Arcanis the Omnipotent himself.

Do you like giving other players a chance? -Part of what makes EDH fun to me is not assembling a game-ending, unstoppable engine of destruction as quickly as possible, but rather, letting players have their fun in roughly equal amounts. That being said, this deck can be frustrating in a control vs control matchup, but it is not what I would call broken.

Do you like playing some rather outlandish cards that would never see play outside of EDH? -Honestly, a big part of what made me build this deck came down to the myriad of awkward, "low-power" cards that packed my collection. Counterlash, Enter the Infinite, and even Lay Claim are all great examples of over-costed, traditionally weak cards that made their way into this deck despite inherent power issues.

Do you enjoy combos? -Comboing is what I do in MtG, which is why this deck is essentially centered around one diabolic combo: Isochron Scepter imprinted with something like Anticipate, Paradox Engine on the field, plus Sol Ring and fellow mana rocks, allowing me to draw my entire library while constantly floating extra mana. Then, once I've drawn enough, I can pitch my massive hand to Prognostic Sphinx, save for Enter the Infinite, Call to Mind, and Psychic Spiral, hit someone with a Spiral, then use Call to do it all again. Alternatively, if I floated enough mana, I can hit someone with Stroke for X= his or her library.

So that basically explains why I love this deck. It has solid blue control elements, it has card draw, it's powerful as well as fair, it has some oddballs thrown in, and it centers around a giant mill combo.

Once again, I look forward to feedback and suggestions. I honestly built this deck out of cards I opened in packs, so it is not as tuned as what some people's might be, but given how much of a pet deck this is, I could see myself making additions to improve it.
