It's true what they say, once you go black, you never go back! I built mono-black devotion for standard, and fell in love. So, when I decided to break into Legacy, I went mono-black, and it's SO fun. I had been playing a Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck, and found it just wasn't quite getting there. And I realized, with the exception of Thraximundar, all my best cards were black! I was begining to see a pattern. Thus, I built this mono-black EDH deck. What I like about black is, it has the most powerful spells. I won't argue that blue is the most powerful colour, because it certainly is. BUT, card for card, black has stronger effects, mind you, at a higher cost. Here's how it works:

We're on the fatty plan. Ob Nix get's HUGE and fast, so, why try and deal 40 damage, when you only need 21? (; If you review the deck list, you'll see that I have a LOT of card draw, and a lot of mana production. Why? Because I want 3 cards. Shizo, Death's Storehouse, the Akroma's Memorial, and/or Rune-Scarred Demon. If my general is an 18/18 or so, and he flies, has first strike, trample, haste, pro black, and pro red, he's gonna deal some General damage. BUT, that still leaves White, Green, and Blue creatures who can block him! That's where Shizo comes in. It gives him fear. Fear states only Black and Artifact creatures can block him. "But wait!" you say, "Doesn't he have pro Black?" That's right! So, how many people are running flying artifacts? (; But, we know that in a game of EDH, things rarely go according to plan. Which, is why ole' Ob Nix brought in some back up. The rest of my creatures are big, epic fatties. No real tricks in this deck. No subtlety, or mind games. We leave that to the Blue players. We're going for the good old fashion beat down plan (:
