Trying to avoid expensive cards like
Collected Company
while still being somewhat resilient. I'm pretty happy with how this is working so far!
MY definition of "budget" at the moment is no playset over $20/$5 per card, and if a card is over $5 I can only get one, hence the single Craterhoof, Cavern of Souls. I would actually like to buy this deck soon.
Ideal opening 10 cards: if you have the majority of these in your opening hand, keep it!
3x Lands that can come in untapped.
1x
Heritage Druid
1x Dwynen's Elite
1x Imperious Perfect
1x Beckcall
1x Intruder Alarm
Turn 1: Breeding Pool into
Heritage Druid
Turn 2: Hinterland Harbor into Dwynen's Elite. Tap all your elves for GGG, play Imperious Perfect
Turn 3: Forest, drop Intruder Alarm. Activate
Heritage Druid
, pay G to make a Elf token, Alarm triggers and all your creatures untap. Using You now have infinite G mana and infinite tokens. You still have all your lands untapped, so play the Beck sitting in your hand and draw your deck. Play Ezuri, Renegade Leader or Craterhoof Behemoth for the win!
Even without Beck you can chain a ton of elves off of Heritage Druid if they are cheap enough. The aforementioned Dywnen's Elite is king, followed by your staple Elvish Mystics and
Llanowar Elves
. Coiling Oracle helps smooth out your draws, either getting a land out of the way or drawing you a card. Elvish Visionary is pure value too.
Obviously that is with no disruption, none of your elves getting Path to Exiled or Lightning Bolted.
Sideboard incoming.
I'm considering running Forbidden Orchard and splashing a Stomping Ground for
Sarkhan Vol
or Mass Hysteria to give all my creatures haste. An interesting idea.
