Damnation. Amazng way to clear the board, or if you prefer, Murder, or for really late game, the always underestimated and underrated In Garruk's Wake

You can probably get rid of Vampire Nighthawk I know it gives you the flying ability but Deadly Recluse will save you from that. I'd say put Nylea, God of the Hunt in first, it has the most potential to be helpful. Garruk, Apex Predator Could be swapped in for one or two Scuttling Doom Engines If you want protection from little guys go for Pestilence in the sideboard. Lastly, I'd suggest Doom Blade over Executioner's Capsule.

wisegreenbean i really like the Wasteland Viper thank you!!

ninjaman16782 isnt Damnation wrong tot use in my deck? Because im running Swarmyard? I think Murder is a better choice. And In Garruk's Wake is a little to expensive (cmc), isnt he? Please, correct me if im wrong!

MackAttack why should i remove Vampire Nighthawk? It works great with Thornbite Staff. Maybe I van cut 2 Vampire Nighthawks and add 1 Nylea, God of the Hunt and 1 Garruk, Apex Predator? Again correct me if i wrong.

Thanks for the help guys!!

ninjaman16782 In case I should use Damnation would it be a good choice to use No Rest for the Wicked?

No Damnation, Not what your deck wants to be doing. How you bud your deck is completely dependent on how competitive you want it to be and what your meta is like.

I saw keep the nighthawks in. The deck acts more as an attrition deck till you land a vraska. Nylea doesn't really fit and garruk apex will only see play in standard. 7 is waaaay too costly for modern. Damnation wouldn't be bad but given all your guys give deathtouch and you have spot removal it seems more like overkill to me.

I know wake is expensive, however it helps in a long game and should be at least considered for sideboard. I have lost count of how many games it has won me, both modern and standard. Damnation is a last resort kind of card, for if you need to clear a large board.

dan8080 So you say I better use Vraska the Unseen instead of the Rogue's Passage?

December 10, 2014 10:11 a.m.

in my opinion you should totally find a spot for Reaper of the Wilds, that lady is insane!

I'm not huge on rogue's passage for a couple reasons, the obvious being a colorless land where you already have 3-4 in the swarmyards that are actually quite necessary for this deck. and the other reason is if the deck works as it should, then the board should already be pretty clear for you to get atleast one of those tokens in for a hit.

Well the Thornbite Staff works with any deathtouch creature. Nighthawk is good for lifelink and deathtouch but it is your deck I'm just suggesting. I don't know what you play against. Also if you want to fix the colorless land thing Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth fixes that. Switch a few swamps for it.

+1 Love all Golgari builds, and this is a really cool theme. Have you considered Maelstrom Pulse over Dismember?

OniricPlayground I'm trying to find a spot for Reaper of the Wilds I just don't know what I have to cut :P

MackAttack I realy appriciate your help! I'm not a real tournament player, just a casual player. I going to add 2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. These will be great for the Swarmyard!

vault The reason I chose Dismember over Maelstrom Pulse is because Maelstrom Pulse can't destroy 'indestructible' and with Dismember I will.

-Fulcrum says... #15

@ThisIsTheSix: How often do you run into indestructible creatures? How often do you need a spell that can destroy noncreatures and potentially 2-for-1 other times?

December 11, 2014 4:01 a.m.

Tommeke19 says... #16

@vault: So I better add 4 Maelstrom Pulse to main and 4 Dismember to side?

December 11, 2014 4:11 a.m.

-Fulcrum says... #17

No, that's probably a bit overkill. 2 Dismember and 2 Maelstrom Pulse MB should be fine. Gives you variety and versatility.

i'd encourage the Reaper of the Wilds for this type of deck. the ability to hexproof it is great, and the scry is really good for what you are doing. also, Deathreap Ritual could be great for card draw. Horizon Spellbomb could be potent with Glissa, the Traitor to ensure land drops, thin out mana, and draw cards recursively. depending on the format Nihil Spellbomb could be really good, and Necrogen Spellbomb could be useful as recurrable discard/draw depending on what you need, especially since you can do it during draw step after they draw. also, black has great card draw like Phyrexian Arena, Sign in Blood, and Necropotence as well.

Thank you very much Atsuma Will defintely give it a try. I really like the Deathreap Ritual and Horizon Spellbomb!!

Deathreap Ritual would work great with Reaper of the Wilds because I can scry first and then draw 1.

Thanks again

also, Svogthos, the Restless Tomb is a fun card if you wanted to run something like that. you said casual deck and i can say that man lands just tend to be alot of fun.

Tommeke19 says... #24

Atsuma, i think its a little bit useless to play it because im running Swarmyard so most of my creatures I can regenerate

December 24, 2014 5:31 a.m.

Atsuma says... #25

yeah, i was suggesting it more of as a 1 of for those late game top deck sessions. having a potentially large creature after they have killed all your stuff can be very powerful, and the fact it reverts to a land can keep it alive vs mass removal and sorcery speed removal. Another 1 of or whatnot could be Avatar of Woe.
