Updates —April 29, 2016

Earlier Edits from before I knew how updates worked:

- Black Sun's Zenith Felt like an excessive amount of control.
- Unearth Was under performing with the limited number of creatures.

+ Quicken Cantrips for ease of Doomsday combo, also allows for an EoT Doomsday.
+ Shadow of Doubt Cantrips and shuts down searching for an entire turn, seems good against everything from Demonic Tutor to Fetchlands.

Doomsday just felt unreliable without more ways to cantrip into it so I'm trying out some extra card-draw.

Recent Edits:

- Magosi, the Waterveil Combo just wasn't good and CIPT hurt tempo too much.
- Deserted Temple Colorless Mana not what I want and without Magosi doesn't even combo anymore.
- Trinket Mage A limited tutor that doesn't find any combo pieces.

+ Cephalid Coliseum Taps for blue, life loss hurts but the draw ability at threshold might make up for it. This card may change in the future.
+ Slaughter Pact Sometimes you just need to kill a creature when you're tapped out, obviously don't get your lands blown up afterwards.
+ Intuition Fetches more stuff than Trinket Mage and it is easy to make piles which make your opponents choices irrelevant. Worst case, in a long game you can grab Demonic Tutor, Snapcaster Mage, and Yawgmoth's Will and their choice becomes completely meaningless, just take any card from your deck with it.

I'm testing with 32 lands instead of 33, I always felt I was drawing too many, which is better than not enough but certainly not ideal.

Combos include:
Basalt Monolith + Power Artifact
Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth
Grim Monolith + Power Artifact
Demonic Consultation + Laboratory Maniac as a last resort.

There is also Doomsday, which is being experimented with at the moment, as well as a four card combo involving Magosi, the Waterveil which has never worked, but might get better if I can ever afford a Candelabra of Tawnos.

I think you have a number of unnecessary non-basic lands here. I'm not sure if you just don't like basic lands but having them sometimes helps especially if guys in your meta run cards like Back to Basics, Blood Moon and Price of Progress.

The Magosi, the Waterveil combo isn't worth your trouble. You already have a solid infinite mana and LabMan combo so I don't think adding another one will help you.

Have you tried using Hurkyl's Recall and Helm of Awakening? They help you get more out of your mana rocks.

Lastly, Flusterstorm instead of Cryptic Command?

Hi Megalomania,

Thanks for the comment, I run the excessive number of non-basics so that Tainted Pact never whiffs on me.
I'll probably just replace the Magosi, the Waterveil with a Command Tower or something to avoid the comes into play tapped.
I do run Hurkyl's Recall in the list and have never been disappointed with it, whether I'm using it to ramp or destroying the Karn deck I'm playing against it always is a good one to have.
I have experimented with Helm of Awakening and really like it, I'm just not sure what I'd cut for it at the moment.
As for Flusterstorm, but it is on the "to-get" list.

Thanks for the tips. Always appreciated.

Looks like I lost some text above, meant to say, "I don't have Flusterstorm, but it is on the "to-get" list."
