I love the concept. When I have the time to do so I will be getting the cards to make it.

Very new here to tapped out, but this is an intriguing deck if I've ever seen one. Will definitely give it a shot

Have you considered Carnifex Demon for this deck? It's a little high on the mana curve but it looks like it would be awesome for your deck.
February 24, 2015 1:38 a.m.
I have not, fallenarchetype. Mostly because I didn't know about it at all :) CMC is pretty high and I don't think it would do anything better than what there already is in this deck. Still, thanks for suggesting!

While I have a personal hatred for infinite combo's, I really like this deck :) I tried making a mono-black variation once with Black Sun's Zenith but it was pretty useless against control.
I used Dusk Urchins for card draw, as long as you can move multiple -1/-1 counters at the same time it can even draw more than 3 cards for 3 mana.
Proliferate is really nice, but the mana cost on the contagion artifacts is really high indeed, I used Grim Affliction, because proliferate gives you a lot of counters but also control on which ones get increased.
Finally I'm a big fan of Deity of Scars, it can hit really hard, and in a deck like this it can have infinite regeneration.

I share the very same feeling, Subject134127. I like to play with "gentleman rules", meaning no infinite combos and no infect. This deck sure is kind of a close call on both of those but I have justified the infinite combo to myself with that the combo itself doesn't deal inf damage or give insta win in other ways either. Also, I have only used wither and not infect so no poison wins :) Valid suggestions you got there! I'm not completely certain though would they be better than what I already have in this deck and if they are, what should I take out.
Bobby654. Thanks for suggesting. CMC is way too high on that. Even if that fits the theme of this deck, there really isn't room for that card. Same thing can be achieved with so many others cards and faster.
February 25, 2015 8:36 a.m.
Ah ok. I understand. And I agree. upon looking at the deck once more I can see that you have cards that do what Incremental blight does but in much faster

well these are my thoughts if I would run this deck:
While tutoring is strong, I feel that having to splash a third color and subsequently acquire 2 mana of that color to achieve only that, might be a bit limiting, so I'd use dusk urchin and/or Scarscale Ritual draw instead of the Phantasms and phase out the blue mana. When you don't need the urchin draw you can use it as a 4/3 swinger. Then again, I'm used to having extremely cheapskate manabases that make 3 colors inconsistent so I may be biased.
Deity of Scars can be run as a one or two-of. Necroskitter is amazing if you can get it to work, but you first need the combo going. I'd probably remove one of them (multiples on the board are fairly useless anyway), and one card of choice to try out the deity in a pure B/G version.
Grim Affliction is mostly a win-harder card. Not sure if I'd put it in myself, but I figured I'd mention it as it could easily bring over 5 extra counters on the table, in case you'd find that useful. it's yet another 3-CMC card though :p

And as usual only after posting my comment I realise that a bunch of your combos uses blue. i feel like an idiot sometimes :D

Subject134127, haha :D Yeah, blue is kind of important part of this deck :) Scarscale Ritual seems like an awesome addition anyway though.

First of all: awesome deck! I surely will try it soon. But I think adding a playset of Scarscale Ritual by removing the only two counters (Countersquall) you had on the decklist is no improvement. Maybe just two of the rituals will do. I have to try it out though...
February 26, 2015 3:56 a.m.
Grossglockner thanks for commenting. You might be right. The reason why I took them out is the basic fact that because of them I would need to keep 2 lands untapped all the time and this isn't particularly a counter deck so I though this would be faster without them. Though, now that there is more draw mechanics and there are lots of other tutor cards I might take Diabolic Tutors out and add Countersquall back.

Necrotic Ooze could really increase you consistency by essentially being any creature who has died. It can perform the Devoted Druid + Quillspike combo on its own, or take the place of Leech Bonder with a Paradise Mantle.

I'm suppriesed I have not seen Carnifex Demon thrown out yet, he is great for the -1/-1 ramp, and she may be overused in black but Liliana Vess would be interesting for this deck

ever consider Lockjaw Snapper? If it gets nailed by the boardwide -1/-1 counters, you can use that with Quillspike to clean your board and chumpblock with it. Midnight Banshee might help with getting counters out but the CMC is a tad high.
March 5, 2015 4:18 a.m.
zachi, thanks for suggesting. Lockjaw Snapper seems like it has some potential in it but on the other hand, I'm not sure would it really be that helpful. I mean, you either have already hit the correct cards and then getting -1/-1 counters is so easy that there just isn't any need for Lockjaw Snappers ability. OR you don't have counters at all and then the ability is meaningless. Midnight Banshee is out of the question for several reasons. First: most of my creatues aren't black. Secondly: if I already can move counters around, there is no reason having Midnight Banshee. They loo kgreat on paper but there isn't really real synergy with my other cards. Those could work much better in normal -1/-1 deck.

Grossglockner, Found out about Perplex. I think it fits perfectly to this deck. It can be used as a counterspell and you can tutor with it the most needed cards. Better than Countersquall, right?
March 5, 2015 6:12 a.m.
How about,
Chainbreaker, it's a nice two drop; which only gets stronger when you use Leech Bonder or Quillspike ability. You can also use his own ability but that's probably to costly.
Tezzeret's Gambit, it's more costly than Scarscale Ritual but it does has proliferate. So maybe?
March 5, 2015 6:31 a.m.
Deity of Scars maybe? And what about just Scar? For Polymorphist's Jest, Night of Souls' Betrayal works well. I'd add that as a sideboard card along with Illness in the Ranks.
March 5, 2015 9:06 a.m.
6tennis thanks for commenting, though as you can see Deity of Scars was already in maybe list. Scar is just too weak. I mean, yeah. It can be handy but there just simply isn't room for card like that. Polymorphist's Jest can already be comboed better with other cards like Soul Snuffers (especially when there is Necroskitter). Definitely not going to use Illness in the Ranks. Too conditional and it doesn't give counters, just plain -1/-1.
