Mono-black in MTG represents paying life instead of mana, discard effects, sacrifice effects, vampirism, reanimation, and a touch of life-taxing effects. This deck is my attempt at representing all that is Mono-B in a fun, casual, and synergistic manner. I pulled Rankle from a Throne of Eldraine pack and knew immediately that he would be the perfect Commander for my Mono-B magnum opus.

This deck is aimed to be a casual (fun for all at the table) discard/sacrifice deck with a grind-out life-tax primary win-condition with a voltron win-con as a close second. The goal is to ideally trigger each of Rankle's effects every turn and make opponents pay an extra cost as a result (underworld dreams, megrim, etc.) without being so synergistic that they aren't having fun and/or feeling like they could make a comeback.

So far this deck has been casual enough that it helps keep the table at parity without making yourself the biggest target - pretty decent win-rate as a result. I'm trying to keep it at that level - where the self tax effects (phyrexian arena, bitterblossom, etc.) keep you as a big danger to yourself as well... I've added a couple of life-gain effects and one-sided drains as I've successfully killed myself on occasion.

Please share your thoughts and any other fun synergies I may have overlooked. I'm trying to avoid fast mana (aside from dark ritual and sol ring) and keep the vibe as casual.
