Oros, the Avenger

B100 EDH RULES:

Here follows the three comprehensive rules that define the format:

  • $100 Budget: The complete cost of the deck must be below $100 for the TCG Player Avg price. This is where the B100 comes from for those that are curious. This value is calculated on the left side of this page. The correct value is the lesser of the 2 values, as this is the price using the cheapest versions available. The cost of the general is included and basic lands do not add to the total cost.
  • Commander Cost Limit: The cost of the commander cannot exceed $10 utilizing the TCG Player Avg price. This is to avoid decks that abuse overly powerful commanders.
  • Additional Banlist: This is an optional list of cards that outclass other cards by such a large margin and generally don't add anything to the game in terms of interesting gameplay.

DECK STRATEGY:

The primary focus of this deck are as follows:

  • Nomad Tribal: This deck is comprised mostly of nomad creature type and is intended for B100 EDH low level tier tribal match-ups; however, it can also be successful in casual games as well. Here are a few examples of nomads.
  • Threshold: Many nomads possess the threshold ability, which requires 7 or more cards to be present in your graveyard to trigger. This deck will attempt to achieve this as soon as possible via the following three methods: natural game progression, utilizing artifacts that can be sacrificed for beneficial effects, and rummaging/looting. Here are a few examples of nomads with threshold.
  • Rummaging/Looting: These two abilities are basically referring to discarding to draw cards or vice versa. This will not only assist you in increasing the quality of your hand, but also achieve threshold faster than otherwise possible. Here are a few examples of cards with this feature.

Some other synergies within the deck:

  • Discard Targets: These are cards that are either beneficial to place in the graveyard or are not useful due to the match-up or board conditions. Here follows some examples of a few present in the deck.
  • Auriok Salvagers Package: This is simply a toolbox to assist the deck with assembling a multi-color mana base, removing enemy threats from the board/graveyard, and enhancing your own creatures. All six artifacts are less than 1 CMC, so they can be repeatedly recurred via the activated ability of Auriok Salvagers. It is also helpful that 4/6 of the artifacts sacrifice themselves to their own abilities, edging closer to threshold by adding more cards to the graveyard. Here are a few examples.

FEATURED CARD:

Desert Nomads

Here are three strengths of the featured card:

  • Creature - Nomad: This creature was the first nomad printed in Magic the Gathering and will benefit from the following cards in this deck.
  • Land - Desert: With the release of the Amonkhet expansion, a few deserts have been printed that see play in EDH. With these on the enemies board, desert nomads can attack unabated. Here are a few examples of relevant deserts.
  • Artwork: This has to be one of my favorite Arabian Nights cards because of the interesting mechanic combined with stunning artwork. It reminds of an early 90's PC game called Dune II that spawned from the popularity of the book and the movie Dune. Here are a few other cards by the same artist Christopher Rush.
