Cool cards bro. DISCARD THEM!
Here's an interesting idea I had. I notice that a lot of decks, especially control, revolve around having a lot of cards in hand to have options to respond with. I figured, "why not start cutting their hand from turn 1?" and so I did.
So this deck was born. This deck attempts to control not by controlling on the board, or on the stack - but by controlling before cards have even been played. It's still a bit rusty and needs work, but I think it has a lot of potential.
Duress, Thoughtseize, and Mind Rot are your basic discard features.
Purge the Profane
is a little spendy but does garner the life gain. Shrieking Affliction can hurt quite a bit, even at one copy on the field, since a lot of the time your opponent will be topdecking, or at one card.
Then we have the creature utility --
Drainpipe Vermin
is your run-of-the-mill 1-drop chump blocker, with the advantage of being able to make your opponent discard when it dies. Sin Collector is an awesome card, as it rips apart control. Yoink out that looming Sphinx's Revelation. Liliana's Reaver is a bulky beatstick with deathtouch that has a nice discard/token generate effect when it remains unblocked.
Disciple of Phenax
is an obvious choice since there will be quite a bit of devotion going on. Finally, Blood Baron of Vizkopa and
Obzedat, Ghost Council
are the finishers of the deck, with nice lifegain and evasion.
The sideboard has the
Lifebane Zombie
for anything running G or W creatures, and laughs at Loxodon Smiter. Pithing Needle is a staple. Merciless Eviction takes care of anything that's crampin' your style, and we have sacrifice removal in Devour Flesh and spot PW removal with Hero's Downfall.
Anyways, lemme know what you guys think of this!
