2-1 at MNM, vs a WGB Midrange, Dimir mill, and mirror Orzhov midrange. lost the first game due to having no mana. 2 scrylands opening hand, drew no more. Other than that, good day. Decided that Erebos would have helped me in all 3 games. Also, Ashioks Adept and Duress were amazingly perfect sideboards against the dimir mill, and dutiful thrull was boss in all games.

2-1 last three MNMs. trying to go 3-0! andrews first trial of villaneous wealth, some success, huge promise. needs cheaper spells.

lost first game because i had herald on fabled hero but he had a mantis rider to chump block, and i didnt draw the necessary gods willing, feat, or glimpse. so im taking out bloodsoaked for the 4th glimpse, should make this deck my masterpiece!

also lost because i sideboarded in erase vs. banishing light, but he didnt play it and i had a dead card in hand as my final card. the one ephemeral shields i sided out wud have won me the game, triggering prowess and gaining me 3hp so he couldnt jeskai charm me ftw.

sideboard cards need to fit the core of your deck. erase doesnt trigger heroic, only triggers prowess IF i have a target, which i didnt.

another opponent's w/r heroic prowess deck had springleaf drums and defiant strikes. maybe i need some defiant strikes so i dont have to rely on luck to draw the final gods willing to seal the deal. it ended up splashing for jeskai ascendancy combo to trigger prowess infinite times, looting infinite times, finding gods willing to go unblockable and win. defiant strikes and dragon mantle finds the combo. he ended up not having enough mana to play it all; the primary reason to run midrange heroic

I would drop the Fabled Heros for something like Battle Mastery / Spectra Ward / Ordeal of Heliod in order to take advantage of Hero of Iroas. I think Boon of Erebos might be better than Ephemeral Shields. Cool deck, I've always wanted to make a b/w heroic deck.

thanks for the feedback :)

most of the games i win are off of fabled hero tbh, he's the best character in the deck so i dont think i can take him out.agent is a free win against most other midrange decks, so i like him in there too.

i agree, more auras for the Hero of Iroas wud be nice. But i dont think many auras besides Herald are worth running, even if they are made cheaper. Eternal thirst is in the sideboard for those burn decks, gift of immortality against crackling doom decks.

im running ephemeral shields because you can go T2 Seeker/Hero T3 Agent/Fabled + ephemeral shields

and no opponent ever expects it. Its like an extra bubble shield around your guys to stop that last Murderous Cut they played on top of your God's Willing.

otherwise, ajani's presence > boon, but boon is black so it might have a place in the deck. Spectra ward could be good, i'll have to try it out.

thanks for the feedback :)

I like this deck, but I would definetly put Sorin, Solemn Visitor in the mainboard! ;)

I agree, Sorin, Solemn Visitor wins games.

Nice deck, everything has synergy to diabolical ends, +1.

My only 2 suggestions would be to MB Defiant Strike for Feat of Resistance. You currently have 12 instant protection spells, which is a lot imo. Being able to get a heroic and a draw for 1 mana cannot be underestimated.

I also would add some definite removal to SB; Hero's Downfall is an obvious suggestion, but Ulcerate or Erase could be options depending on what your meta is like.

thanks for the suggestions. Feat is too good of an effect to pass up in terms of evasion, but i did MB defiant strike and took out erebos into the SB.

Still considering where Sorin and Valorous Stance for the deck.

You no longer have auras so the utility of Hero of Iroas has sharply dipped. Could replace him with Soren and/or Valorous Stance (I think its more flexible than Feat) but other replacements could be Ainok Bond-Kin or Phalanx Leader.

The Hero is a well-bodied Heroic guy who can carry the game or just attack/block reasonably well because of his threatening Heroic trigger. He makes Bestowing Gnarled Scarhide and Herald of Torment reasonably costed.

He is actually the core creature of this deck. Agent doesn't get bigger and can get shut down by tokens. Seeker resumes being a 2/2 after you pass turn. Hero is the only one that guarantees a permanent and meaningful return for investing in him, as he can hit your opponent harder and be more resilient than the others.

But i do think your suggestions are great for a Launch the Fleet style deck, if i had more creatures in general.

I forgot about bestows when I mentioned that change, and I concur with your reasoning, they're spot on.

Gotcha, thanks :) I wish there were more sweet auras but it doesn't seem like anything besides bestow is worth it, besides spectra ward in the right deck.

Eidolon of Countless Battles could work really well in here as another bestow, makes anyone a monster.

Interesting, as he does fit the curve very nicely.

If i had more creatures I would definitely run him, but after playing last night I realized how badly I need Herald of Torment for both damage and evasion, even if it is a bit costly.

Trying out Fabled Hero again, for pure damage. Too many opponents have been escaping with <5 hp.

What about Mortal's Ardor? It makes your Fabled Hero a massive lifelinker for a turn, cast it with a Seeker of the Way, boom, double Lifelink creatures for a turn.

antagon1st says... #20

I've been reluctant because it doesn't stack with Seeker's lifelink or lifelink provided by Sorin. But it does counteract Bile Blight/Lightning Strike. It's just a little too situational for this deck I think, and it's fairly dead against control.

i need to make my deck cheaper. not drawing a 2 drop (8 total) can be fatal. i need to get under my opponents removal, feat and valorous stance are too slow

I would suggest taking the Temur Battle Rages out and Keep it black white. I personally don't see the point in having red just for that

good call. i was trying out battle rage and titan's strength, but it made my deck less resilient, consistent, and have a much shorter range if i wasn't able to combo kill in a short amount of time.

drown in sorrow is huge. had 2 seekers out, he had a seeker and 5 hordeling goblins. never saw it coming.

went 3-1, opened another sorin :) lost to a RG deck, I had sided in my only 3 Drowns and left in 1 Herald and drew it in the last turn of the game. If it was Drown i woulda won. this deck is really coming around!
