Make the lifegain thing but also make the other guy lose the life thing so that you can have it but s/he can't.
Some of the more minor combos include things like Ajani's Pridemate or Suture Priest
+
Wall of Limbs
, which allows Pridemate to enter the battlefield as a 3/3 or wall of limbs as a 1/4; enough buffing turns your wall into a dangerous late-game finisher and an effective blocker until then. Further buffing is made easy with the addition of Scoured Barrens,
Tablet of the Guilds
, and the extort mechanic on Blind Obedience,
Tithe Drinker
, and
Treasury Thrull
, though the latter isn't being relied upon for extortion due to its high cost.
Edge of the Divinity will also be an asset with your B/W creatures, having excellent pairings with
Tithe Drinker
(which allows you to have a 5/4 lifelink extort on turn 3),
Treasury Thrull
(which turns him into a 7/7 and makes swinging with him even more worthwhile), or
Souls of the Faultless
(which allows an excellent defender to block the big guys without dying, able to kill off the smaller chaps, or make him more resistant to burns all for 1cmc).
There are no inherent fliers in this deck (other than Sorin's -2), though Gift of Orzhova is a fitting retort to this potential problem by also granting lifelink and a slight muscle buff on top of existing lifegain abilities.
Sorin, Solemn Visitor gives all creatures +1/+0 and lifelink, and even on the creatures that already have lifelink, the extra power is never amiss. All of these sources of lifegain in as little as one turn set this deck up for the nail in the coffin: stackable Sanguine Bond
+
Vizkopa Guildmage
; bonus points for
Rhox Faithmender
. If your opponent sees this combo and decides not to play into it, Sorin eebs that much closer to his already imminent -6, which most opponents would look to deal with rather quickly. He is a good provoking force on the battlefield, so long as you're not running up against too many 'destroy target nonland permanent' flavoured items.
Either way, it forces your opponent to play your game rather carefully, while also giving you significant leeway in the form of extra life and hand size, where the lifegain shrugs any non-infect unblockables and the
Well of Lost Dreams
makes extra card draw have a cheap regular potential once it hits the field. This is, of course, unless an opponent has removal out the arse, in which case, hopefully
Treasury Thrull
is able to keep your things in active circulation.
Any feedback is appreciated, as I'm always on the lookout for neat combos.
