Maybeboard

My first attempt at this was Abzan Vampires Riding Indestructible Horses and it honestly isn't bad but I found the ramp and Vraska to come up far less often than I was willing to budge on the Token strategy, so here's a straight WB variant that runs a bit faster and maybe a bit cheaper.

Questionables

This is a short list of cards I included for various reasons and their arguments, I'd love some input:

  • Queen's Commission is okay, making 2 tokens for 3 isn't the greatest, but it fits the curve for now and Call to the Feast at 4 mana is just awkward to play around when you want to land Procession on Turn 4
  • Bishop's Soldier is just a bear with lifelink and a vampire to trigger Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle, but that's pretty much okay here
  • Glory-Bound Initiate is mostly here for cheap lifegain when Crested Sunmare is out, but I really like the card, minus the fact it's not a vampire.
  • Vicious Conquistador doesn't gain us life, but as a 1 drop it's a bit better than GBInitiate above and I've swapped 2x in place to run because synergies in getting more Legion's/Mavren/Seeker triggers helps immensely.

Show-Stealers

I was super happy with the performance of these cards in playtesting:

  • Crested Sunmare just gets STUPID with all the lifelink and Anointed Procession
  • Vona, Butcher of Magan is incredibly powerful, move to attack and then destroy any threats. 7 life isn't hard to pay in this deck
  • Sanctum Seeker is bonkers, just bonkers. Seriously my first FNM with this was dominated by this card triggering very often
  • Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle isn't as good as the above, but when you need more creatures onboard, he's your man. 4 of in the mainboard so you can attack freely, get the token and lose the Mavren only to follow up with Main Phase 2 Mavren.
  • Legion's Landing   is just perfect, find ways to maximize it's use around the Legendary aspect and it mines a little extra value in interactions
  • Arguel's Blood Fast was a surprise to me, but after playtesting it, it truly provides the much needed card advantage this deck craves when you get stuck in a rut. I'm contemplating bumping this up to 3x instead of 2x because of how well it performed and has the ability to bring us back when we're behind.

Updates Add

Cut the 3rd Anointed Procession and went back to 4x Crested Sunmare and swapped the Queen's Commission for 2 mainboard Duress which didn't really come up at all today, so we'll see if it sticks.

  • Round 1: 0-2 Loss - Ramunap Red, some serious misplays on my part, otherwise this would've been a heated battle and at least gone to 3 games...
  • Round 2: 2-0 Win - Blue-Green +1/+1 counters with Merfolk, would've gone to 3 games but sideboarding Solemnity shut him down in game 2
  • Round 3: 2-0 Win - Grixis Pirates
