An aggressive warrior deck.
This deck is budget friendly but performs very well right now.
One Drops
You come out of the gates fast with 12x 2/1 one drops.
Mardu Woe-Reaper
prevents graveyard shenanigans like Deathmist Raptor, and targets for Liliana, Defiant Necromancer
and Den Protector.
Conversely, Bloodsoaked Champion just keeps coming back on your side of the table.
Two Drops
Your ideal two drop is
Blood-Chin Rager
, the star of the deck that gives menace to everyone.
Battle Brawler
is hard to block because of first strike (which you can even turn on with
Silkwrap
). The 2 chiefs give you whatever buff you need at the time.
Chief of the Scale
is surprisingly effective in an aggro deck due to the prevalence of 2 damage red spells, and having your one drops survive Hangarback Walker tokens. Finally,
Silkwrap
takes care of early game dangers like Hangarback Walker, Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
, and Monastery Swiftspear. As a side note, it's important to keep a
Silkwrap
if you want to prevent Anafenza, the Foremost from blocking and exiling your Bloodsoaked Champion.
Three Drops
The co-star of the show is Arashin Foremost, giving herself and another warrior double strike... the extra damage is HUGE if left unblocked, and otherwise kills the blocker.
Finally, after your opponent has set up enough blockers you can end the game by sacking your creatures to
Blood-Chin Fanatic
. This last 2x
Blood-Chin Fanatic
slot is the most flexible. Alternatives include
Mardu Strike Leader
to dash in damage, Brutal Hordechief for extra damage despite blocks, Secure the Wastes to go wide at the end of their turn, or a damage buff card like Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. Gideon, Ally of Zendikar has the extra benefit that his emblem might put you out of
Radiant Flames
or even Languish range when coupled with
Chief of the Scale
's.
Sideboarding
Against control you want Duress to take their wipe,
Mardu Strike Leader
to keep Dash'ing after a wipe, and
Timely Hordemate
to bring one of your excellent two drops back after a wipe.
Against Atarka Red you want
Surge of Righteousness
, Ultimate Price, and Virulent Plague against their goblin tokens.
Against Abzan you want Radiant Purge, Ultimate Price, and
Timely Hordemate
to bring back dudes they blocked or fought with Dromoka's Command.
Against any token deck you want Virulent Plague.
