@YamishiTheWickedOne He doesn't fill our hand, but he fills our graveyard. We also get more shots at drawing relevant cards in the lategame. It is true that he dies to removal, but so does every other two drop permanent in the format. And the best part is that he normally gains us life by soaking up damage than losing us life like Dark Confidant or Phyrexian Arena.
Basically, he's a decent value engine. He isn't ideal, but still gives lots of value if he survives a turn. You don't have to agree, but he makes this deck work nicely

Are you seriously defending Tibalt as a "good card"?

@YamishiTheWickedOne I'm defending Tibalt as a playable card with a repeatable effect that my deck is designed to use. He isn't the best card in the deck, but he does help make the deck function and get some of the synergies going.
Is Tibalt normally a good card? No. Is he a good card in a deck that makes full use of him? Yes.

I still say there are much better options. Delve is already a fantastic mechanic in a format where no serious deck would be caught dead, alive or undead running Tibalt. And if you're insistent on building a deck around a card you really should run 4. Go the whole hog. Especially considering how easy he is to kill. But I still say you don't need him at all.

Looks like the point went screaming over someone's head...

I really have no idea what to even say at this point.

@YamishiTheWickedOne Some players, myself included, like to create their own brews rather than take stock lists. I might win more games if I played a deck created and tuned by pros, but I will enjoy games with my decks a lot more.
Anyways, if you can suggest a card that performs a similar or better role than Tibalt, please enlighten me. I am testing a copy of Tormenting Voice over the third Tibalt to see how it works out, but Tibs has typically been better and i'll likely be re-adding the third copy.

Sign in Blood. Gitaxian Probe. Manamorphose. Those three immediately come to mind. Tibalt's not going to last more than a turn regardless. If his discard wasn't random he might actually be quasi-playable.
Thing is, from the day he was released, not a single decklist has featured Tibalt at a sanctioned event. Not even in block. It's generally agreed upon that he's bar none the worst walker ever made. I'm all for brewing. I'm famous on this site for vampires of all things. But Tibalt is pretty much universally accepted as an awful card. I may have come on a bit strong in expressing my points here, but I strive to teach and educate.
Also if you splashed blue Izzet Charm would be incredible here. Maybe consider main or side Rakdos Charm because such versatility is hard to come by and SOMEHOW Splinter Twin decks are still alive without splinter twin itself.
Hell, you could maybe even get away with a one-of Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace
Thanks for taking this calmly. I'm tired of things getting heated online for no reason (I deleted my youtube account because it was getting ridiculous.)

Tormenting voice strikes me as decent here btw.

@YamishiTheWickedOne I do agree that Tibalt is a bad planeswalker, but that is also part of his strength. I've played multiple games where people ignore him and he does piles of work. Even if he dies, I've still 1 for 1'd my opponent and gotten a free loot to boot.
Sign in Blood would be playable, but this deck is mainly designed to crush aggro. With 6 discard spells and 6 bolts, we can survive to get our threats online. Sign in Bloods life loss was a bit too much of a beating
As for the cantrips, they just aren't where the deck wants to be. Looting gives us a card in the yard and one in hand, plus we get madness triggers. Tibs loots multiple times. Cantrips do the same thing but without the madness or repeatability.
For splashing blue, I would want Desperate Ravings. It is much more synergistic in the deck.
Rakdos Charm is one I have considered. I'm waiting to see how the meta evolves post-Twin before adopting it, but it certainly could replace Nihil Spellbomb.
Finally, Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace. I personally love this card since its a budget Liliana as a land, but it taps for colorless. We want to cast Demigod of Revenge on time, so I will have to pass on it. I'd likely just add a Lili since Demigod is so good at turning the corner
Thanks for your suggestions! I also appreciate your questioning, it helps me tweak and tune the deck and forces me to evaluate my card choices.

As for mana fixing, let's not forget about Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. That card is disgustingly good.

And Liliana of the Tits is arguably the best walker ever if you have the money.
February 8, 2016 2:49 p.m.
oh how I hope she gets reprinted in SOI...even though it will make almost 0 sense lorewise....the discard/pseudo madness effects spoiled so far have me hopeful

@YamishiTheWickedOne My only issue with Liliana of the Veil is that she doesn't actually progress our gameplan at all. Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded gives us better topdecks in the lategame. I will test her, but we'll see if her 3 CMC makes the cut.
@Bababad Liliana has been confirmed at least for Eldritch Moon, so we will be getting a Liliana of some kind. However, she did have different art, so it might be a different one entirely.

Sounds good to me, more hopeful/excited for a new tibalt. (kinda expecting him to end up being a pawn of Bolas or something along those lines)
A rakdos walker that isn't super narrow would be nice...
looking at you Sarkhan the Mad

Lily is beyond amazing. She's upwards of 80 bucks for a reason. In an absolute worst case scenario she's an edict that soaks up a bolt or attack. You'd be amazed how good forcing a sacrifice is.

Oh, also, Lily may not let you draw, but she depletes the opponents' hand while filling your grave and triggering madness.

@YamishiTheWickedOne With Madness returning as a mechanic for Shadows Over Innistrad, I find it much more likely that I'll be jumping on board in twoish months. I know that she is absurdly powerful.
Still, she'd be replacing Terminate in our flex spot, and I personally want the two mana removal more than the three mana removal. I will run testing to see how she does, but we will have to wait and see.

Terminate is a seriously powerful card. Very little survives it. Again, I'd honestly ditch Tibalt for Lily. Try her out. She's absurdly powerful.

Also would like to mention there technically is another 2 mana walker. That being young Jace.

lemmingllama says... #22
@YamishiTheWickedOne Terminate is very powerful, I have included it as a hedge against Eldrazi decks.
Also I know that you dislike Tibalt. But until he lets me down in games, I currently have no real desire to replace him. If there is a better card that is printed at CMC 2 that fulfills the same role, then I would happily slot it in. However, I will likely keep him until then
Also Jace, Telepath Unbound is a 0 mana planeswalker. His creature side is 2 mana, but you don't actually get the planeswalker half until turn 3.

Lightning Axe for more removal and discarding cards.
February 9, 2016 2:39 p.m.
I freaking love everything about this deck. Its not the best modern deck, but its playable at least and incredibly flavorful. A definite upvote from me, and all hail Our Lord and Savior, the Two Drop Planeswalker.

@pikachu21 Lightning Axe would be in here if we ran more madness. I will hope that SOI will give us some better Madness cards to include. Currently, the card disadvantage and inability to cast if its the only card in your hand just don't make it worthwhile.
@Kilroy54 Any deck is playable if you stick to a theme. I have about a 50% win rate with this, so I'm pretty happy with the results. All Hail!

Let's take inventory here. He's never a net gain in terms of hand size. He's still vulnerable to the most overused card in the format even after going plus. His other two abilities will never get used, are overpriced for what they do, and are honestly kind of bad at face value. There are MUCH better ways to draw and fill your grave. I'd take a Gitaxian Probe over Tibalt any day.
