Thanks for the feedback. It's really just about figuring out what cards I want in the deck in general, not really about budget. All cards are in consideration within reason. I think I'd probably like to do both manalith and darksteel ingot. I have the ingot, just currently in my kaalia EDH deck. I like the last word and mindbreak trap ideas, though the reason Lay Bare is in there is because of the ability to look at my opponent's hand. I'm considering adding Telepathy thoughts?

And since Gatherer makes it difficult for me to search for dual lands. If there are any that come to mind please make note of them and I'll add them to my acquire list. I want to get a decent number of cards on my acquire list before I make another purchase for this deck to save on shipping.

Underground Sea , Watery Grave , Polluted Delta you probably already know about; Mana Crypt , Mana Vault , most of the monoliths (grim monolith) are extremely good. Thran Dynamo , Drowned Catacomb , Creeping Tar Pit ...

Be careful using him as a general. Blasphemous Act is a card. And it will ruin your day.

Yea I've come into that a few times. I typically like to have an unsummon or a vapor snag in hand for those cases. Pretty much any direct damage is brutal with dralnu. Which is why I typically only bring him out when I've got the right counters in hand or the aforementioned unsummon effects.

Crystal Shard and Erratic Portal were kind of made for this deck :-)

Also definitely Isochron Scepter . This deck looks more tailored to 1v1 than multi.

Edited the deck with some of the suggestions and working to figure out how to continue to make it consistent. Its been doing pretty well, but you're right its definitely tailored for 1 v 1. I'd like to make it more multi in its abilities.

Crucible of Worlds + Fetchland/Strip Mine

what is your wincon?

rckclimber777 says... #16
@Internet_the_Explorer - Thanks for the feedback and questions. There are several wincons. However, as I mentioned earlier it is currently tailored in a 1 v 1 and I'd like to expand it to multiplayer.
The main wincons right now are:
Hinder or Spell Crumple or Vessel of Endless Rest a card to the bottom of their library and then follow that up with a Tunnel Vision to mill the opponent entirely. Unless they have an eldrazi in their library then thats game.
Sorin Markov takes an opponent down to 10 and then its a pretty easy trip to get that final 10 health.
Deadeye Navigator with AEther Adept bounces every creature out there and allows me to bounce any creature that comes in except shroud/hexproof. Once I had Time Warp and/or Time Stretch , the navigator with Mnemonic Wall /Archaeomancer will give me infinite turns.
I will add palinchron, I just need to pick it up. With him, may have a couple other additions like Phantasmal Image , Exsanguinate , and Profane Command . Think of the maybeboard more like an aquireboard and figuring out where to put it.
I had Leyline of Anticipation in before and it ended up doing absolutely nothing so I don't see me putting in Vedalken Orrery . Force of Will is a little out of my budget right now and thus will not be in the deck either.
@fireteam Thanks for the suggestions. I like Plague Wind definitely will do well in the deck, I'll add it to the acquireboard. Obviously crucible of worlds with strip mine would be nice as would Vampiric Tutor but both are a little expensive right now. I'll put them on the maybeboard and see what happens.
I like the shadowmoor lands, didn't know about them before. Also Spell Crumple will go in the main board just need to pick a copy up thanks for reminding me about that card.
I agree with three of the other lands you mentioned, only one I don't get is academy ruins. Since I'm only running a few artifacts that seems rather odd. Especially since they're just mana stones (except lightning greaves). I'll think about it, but the other 3 are probably good calls especially once I pick up Venser, Shaper Savant

Alright been working hard on this deck lately. It's surpassed my other EDH deck and is actually performing rather well. I'm thinking of picking up a crucible of worlds, but after I pick up a venser, shaper savant.
Also any thoughts on the general himself. I seem to rarely cast him right now, though when I do cast him, he does pretty well with the deck. I guess I"m just wondering if there might be a better u/b control creature that I should consider over Dralnu, Lich Lord

I haven't gotten to play in tournaments. In casual it does pretty well. Very well in 1 v 1, though I don't know how well it will do in multiplayer. Until I add Palinchron and others i don't think it will hold up in a tournament.
It is fun to play though, thanks for the +1

I would drop Manalith and Darksteel Ingot for Gilded Lotus and Thran Dynamo .
Other changes:
Drop:
- Arcane Denial - Having a cheap counterspell is not worth giving your opponent card advantage.
- Brainstorm - This card isn't very good in EDH.
- Rewind - It isn't really a "free" counterspell when you have to keep 4 mana open to use it.
- Swat - Too expensive considering it doesn't a wide range of relevant creatures.
- Think Twice - This card doesn't really do anything for you.
- Thought Scour - See above.
- Ponder - This card isn't good in EDH.
- Preordain - See above.
- Gitaxian Probe - See above.
- Diabolic Revelation - You don't really have the support necessary to cast this for value.
- Spreading Seas - This doesn't seem useful enough. You could easily use LD instead.
- Transguild Promenade - When you only have two colors in your deck, having to pay 1 to play a gold land tapped is pretty bad.
- Draining Whelk - It's just an expensive counterspell.
If you're dedicated to the combo approach, you should go all in on it. Add cards like Capsize and Venser, Shaper Savant for more win conditions with infinite mana. Use Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to lock your opponents out. Tezzeret the Seeker can find and untap mana rocks. Necropotence , Rhystic Study , and Mystic Remora all offer more draw power.

Thanks Epochalyptik I clearly have much to think over. There is one I really want to keep though: Draining Whelk . While it is expensive, once its out, its a reusable counterspell for 2 mana with Deadeye Navigator . I guess I'll need to work on the draw spells though, I haven't really gotten to play against many competitive EDH decks so your insights help a lot thanks.

If you're familiar enough with my deck (Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition), you can try playtesting against that.
Draw power is extremely important in EDH, especially when you want to have control options and don't have the acceleration of green. If you cut the cards I mentioned, you'll have room for some draw engines and better utility cards.

I have a commander deck using Dralnu, Lich Lord and I've found that Magebane Armor is amazing for him. It will deny all global or direct damage effects so nothing will ruin your day.

Draining Whelk seems less impressive, since you can flash back all your actual counterspells. The interaction with Deadeye Navigator is kind of nice, though.
Have you tested this deck against a combo-control build yet?
Aevukh says... #1
Some quick things:
-1 Piranha Marsh , +1 swamp or other fancy land, as 1 life isn't worth a tapped land in commander. If you have a tight budget, even something like a Dimir Aqueduct would be better.
As opposed to Lay Bare , maybe something like Last Word or Mindbreak Trap ? Or if budget isn't as much of an issue, Pact of Negation ?
Also, Manalith <<<<<<< Darksteel Ingot . Just find a friend who has one, no reason to be playing strictly worse cards.
Maybe add a Gilded Lotus for mana fixing? Being Commander, you should usually be able to get it out safely.
Also, if you or a friend has any, try for card:Night's Whisper over Sign in Blood , as you'll never really use it on them anyway. Yes, it can be argued that you could use it on them with the Hinder Tunnel Vision wincon, but other than that it's easier on the mana and usually better.
Just some thoughts, but ultimately it's your deck, so do what you will!
