I like trying to make effective modern concepts on a budget. This is my latest attempt.

Basic concept is Axebane Guardian and Overgrown Battlement , ramping into Colossus of Akros .

Alternately, Gavony Township and Wakestone Gargoyle give you another way to make your walls dangerous. Assault Formation makes your entire creature base terrifying, especially if you have Wakestone out to animate them all at once.

Apostle's Blessing is currently the only protection I'm including, which can protect Colossus of Akros or another win-con for a round (or give them evasion) for minimal mana.
