side1021: Thanks! I'll report back after Wednesday and see how it goes. Though I think I'll need a playset of them, frankly.

BattleWalrus: That's great! It's such a fun deck to play with, and I'm glad you like it. Let me know how your games go, and if you come across any new ideas for it. The more people we have playing with this deck, the better feedback we can get to perfect it.

Oh, and I usually use Beseech the Queen to tutor for the 1 of cards that most people keep in their sideboard. For example, if I am playing against red, I'll grab Mark of Asylum . Affinity or pod, Stony Silence . Anything creature heavy, Grave Pact , etc...

My only complaint about playing with this deck is that there are so many damn triggers to keep track of. XD

Hey, I think this is a cool deck idea and I would love playing against it with my own modern deck (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/modern-madness-03-04-14-1/). Did you consider another cool Leyline: Leyline of Singularity ? Might work with this.

+1 anyways!

hellto: It would definitely work against Twin variants, but I actually sometimes really need double Blood Artist to win with this deck. It's a cool card. I don't think I would run it in here though.

Ive borrowed your list, with credits to you. :P Gonna try a singleton Sygg, River Cutthroat for a phyrexian arena, along with some other changes. xD I must know the facets of this gem!

Ryotenchi I'm glad you like it! It's a lot of fun to play with. Another budget alternative to Phyrexian Arena is Dark Tutelage . It hurts when you draw a Beseech the Queen with it, but it might prove a bit more consistent than Sygg, River Cutthroat . Either way, have fun! I'm updating the list a bit tonight so I can add Dash Hopes .

xD I just wanted an excuse to run him! I'd Much rather have a single Bob... Also, Agreed on the Dash Hopes !!

Sygg, River Cutthroat is an awesome card (great for shockland hate). Let me know how it works out for you. I may add him if he proves useful. Have fun with the deck!

I think you should put the Mercy Killing back in place of the Path to Exile . I find it more useful than path's for this deck. It's versatile to use on the 4th turn on our own Hunted Horror , profiting us 7 life and dealing 7 damage with Blood Artist and Illness in the Ranks on the field. It also gives us useful blockers for the 3/3's if we don't have an illness out.

I tried out Dash Hopes but found the extra 2 Thoughtseize (Inquisition of Kozilek) were more useful and fit into our mana curve. I'm also always in favor of seeing my opponents hand too ;D.

Great deck, love coming back and looking at all the little tweaks and changes to keep making. I'll post my version of this style when i get some free time. I'll link it to you when i do .. Have a good one, and +1 again if i could!

BattleWalrus Thanks for the feedback! I'll put Mercy back in and put the Path back in the sideboard. I was trying to speed up creature removal a bit, especially for flyers, but it makes sense to have the more synergistic card in the mainboard.

I'm having some trouble with flyers as well. Not sure what's the best way of dealing with them. Might try Runed Halo .

If you've got it, Runed Halo is a pretty handy card, and is very versatile. It's just too bad it's so expensive! I just dropped 50 bucks on two more Leyline of Sanctity . I'm hoping it will be worth it.

I run something very similar to this, I am using Shriekmaw and Dawnfluke as more of an interaction with Suture Priest , Blood Artist , Blood Seeker .

DaigarStrasis: Those look like they'd be very handy in here. I'll be thinking about how I might work them in. Thanks for the helpful feedback!

Here it is good sir. Nosoyyucateco is best pretty much the same thing you've got going on here except i have the Dark Confidant because I actually don't own any arenas :(. Plus i really like the use of Athreos, God of Passage in this deck <3

Auriok Champion would make this deck pack more of a punch

neosapien We've talked about her on here before. I think she would be great as a sideboard option, especially against Izzet Twin Variant decks.

Did you have the chance to try this in a Modern tournament? I subscribed to your deck quite a while ago and now I am interested on how well it works.

NoSoyYucateco says... #21

Yeah, I've played it quite a few times in tournaments, and have tweaked it a lot since its conception. At my old LGS it did better, because there were a lot of Twin variant decks there. At my new one, I'm averaging about 2/2 with it, which isn't bad for a homebrew that costs a fraction of what the decks it's beating costs. It all depends on the pairings, and you'll see varying degrees of success with it based on where you're playing. The sideboard is honestly what makes the deck viable in the current meta. There are just so many decks that are hosed if you drop a Stony Silence , Leyline of Sanctity , or Rest in Peace .

With just the mainboard, the best you can hope for is a turn 1 Illness in the Ranks and then some early Blood Artist and Suture Priest action that they won't be able to recover from. Mercy Killing is awesome against Tarmogoyf decks.

with path to exile being a prominent removal source in modern would it make sense to have a single Island in the mainboard, to use the opponents path of exile as a free tutor for the lone island to help with casting Hunted Phantasm ?

Absolutely love the deck, it has been a long while since i've seen a deck concept that is love at first sight! Good work! +1

Pyroshade: Very smart idea. Thanks! And I am glad you like the deck. I have been tweaking it for a few months now with the help of lots of great feedback from other users and I think it's nearing perfection.

I don't know if your mana fixing is good enough to allow you to play Detention Sphere instead of Oblivion Ring . How has Dawnfluke been working out for you ?

September 18, 2014 10:30 a.m.

NoSoyYucateco says... #25

Dawnfluke is awesome. Especially after they've paid all the mana to attack while Ghostly Prison is down. It has great synergy with Blood Artist , Suture Priest and Soul's Attendant . You prevent 3 damage, gain some life, and deal some damage, all for 1 white mana.
