My very first deck for Legacy was blue/black Painter, realized and worked with players on The Mana Leak and MtgSalvation until eventually we realized UR is the way to go. Intuition fills the role of Lim-Dul's Vault and functions even better with Goblin Welder present. I've played Painter for about 5 years now (it took me about a year to collect all the pieces for it since I was a Standard-only player back then), and it's still one of my favorite combos in Legacy.

This is my current take on the deck. Transmute Artifact is invaluable with so many decks running Emrakul. Fetching a Tormod's Crypt to prevent Emrakul's reshuffle is the only way in game 1, while Ensnaring Bridge can lockdown the field against Sneak Attack decks and you can establish field presence with Wurmcoil Engine game 2.

Transmute Artifact on Grim Monolith allows huge field presence in Wurmcoil Engine, giving you time to either set up the combo or win through combat damage.
