i completely forgot about Counterflux, thanks for the suggetion. I'll playtest it in place of Dissipate for now.
I had Skullclamp in the original build for its synergy with Bitterblossom, but I found that it was a dead card if I drew it without having it. Steel Hellkite is solid removal so I may try that, but I'm not sure where it would go. I'm not sure about the other two cards you mentioned, however. Typically both of those need to be built around to maximize their effects.
Reforge the Soul is good too, but I'm not sure about it being beneficial in here. The reanimation capabilities of this deck are very limited, but the card draw is nice. Thoughts on what to pull for it? I'd need to playtest it to see how it works out.

I would probably drop Blasphemous Act for Steel Hellkite. I really had fun with: Memory Plunder, Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, Oona, Queen of the Fae, and Everlasting Torment too.

Hmm im not sure about that. Blasphemous Act can be a cheap board wipe that hits everybody over just one players stuff. Since I have a large planeswalker presence in the deck its important to keep creatures off the board.

You are right about that. Echoing Truth seems underwhelming in this deck. Cyclonic Rift fits in here because of the Overload, so I would try Steel Hellkite over Echoing Truth.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree again. Echoing Truth is arguably one of the best bounce spells in the game. Not only does it hose token swarms (something this deck has a problem with), but it also can bounce any problem nonland permanent for only 1 blue mana and something else, leaving counter magic up.
I might experiment in place of Fabricate, it seems like a slow effect so some playtesting is in order.

Sac Propaganda for Reforge the Soul ... it's not enough of a stopper if the opponent gets a fatty out. "Oh, I have to pay 2 mana to kick you in the face for 10 damage? Sure thing Mr. AlexSmith21."

You might wanna playtest Act of Aggression over Word of Seizing since you will usually be stealing creatures most of the time, and it can only cost 3. If you insist on needing to steal a permanent, Zealous Conscripts is pretty solid as well, and is super easy to combo with.

Also you might wanna try Vesuva over Deserted Temple

Lastly, I would scrap the Fabricate and Library of Leng , as there isn't any artifact super special you should need to grab, and I'm starting to realize how bad library of leng is; it usually just sits there and does nothing. I would replace fabricate with Phantasmal Image , and take out library of leng for either Pithing Needle , Nihil Spellbomb , AEther Spellbomb , or Mana Crypt .

omgitsgavinlol. I hadn't thought about Act of Aggression , thats definitely worth playtesting. The only reason I included Word of Seizing over Zealous Conscripts is for the split second, and I can snag planeswalkers. I'll playtest it for sure.
Vesuva is solid, but Deserted Temple + Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth = crazy amounts of mana. I'll still try it out in place of something else though.
Fabricate can easily be switched for something else as it was originally used as a ramp spell. Now I usually use it to find Mana Web but that should be fetched with other tutors to keep the surprise. But Library of Leng is a part of the Arcanis the Omnipotent + Mind Over Matter combo, so I'm not sure it needs to go yet. YET!
Btw, I'm back in early May, so be ready for an ass-whoopin

Oh yeah its part of the combo my bad. And vesuva can easily copy cabal coffers almost as well as deserted temple can, and if you need it to it can copy color producing lands.

Thanks for the suggestions on my Thrax deck. Looking through yours I'm thinking I need a Treachery, Mana Vault, top and glen elandra. +1 from me.

I recently learned about this card, Mogg Infestation . It seems really good, thought I'd put it on your radar.

This deck scares me. There are some people that I believe are just wizards of EDH building and you are one of those people. I can build on a theme and it always synergizes but never seems competitive. :P
Has Necropotence ever hurt you in a game? I've got Underworld Connections but sometimes I hate that it has to enchant a land. I've seen a friend do scary things with Necropotence, but sometimes it seems like not getting a draw and needing to discard could be a serious problem, especially when someone plays Reforge the Soul or Whispering Madness .
Super +1, I love seeing serious Grixis decks!

Thanks bud! Really appreciate it. This deck has been my pet project for over a year now and has gone through a ton of transformations.
I love Necropotence personally, but it can be tricky to use and screw you over if you're not careful. With 40 life in EDH, its the best resource a player has at their disposal. And if it ever does become a problem, I can tutor up Karn Liberated or something else to remove/bounce it myself. Underworld Connections is a good step in the right direction. If I were in your spot I'd try to get my hands on a Phyrexian Arena and replace UC with it.
Wheel effects are a problem, but I have enough recursion through Volrath's Stronghold , Archaeomancer , Snapcaster Mage etc., that if I lose something I really want it doesn't pose too much of a problem
Thanks for the +1!

Based on the land lineup, you should be able to afford Mana Crypt .
I would cut:
- Black Sun's Zenith - Not very efficient as a sweeper.
- Bitterblossom - Good card, but unnecessary.
I'm not really a fan of Ral Zarek . I find him to be unreliable and slow.
You mentioned that you want to make the deck faster, but I think you have only limited options so long as you're sticking to the cruel control and quasi-superfriends themes.
June 15, 2013 3:48 a.m.
Ral Zarek is op. 5 possible extra turns means 5 possible mana and 5 main combat phases and in those five turns you may work up ral's loyalty counters to 6. 2 more to do his ultra ability again and keep him alive

@ms: People will be less inclined to offer you help if you don't really say much before plugging your own deck.

i think you should take out lands that are not the colours of your deck like take out Arid Mesa etc until you only have lands that add blue-black red-black and red-blue. also might want to add these lands Graven Cairns Cascade Bluffs and Sunken Ruins should put in the set of Izzet Boilerworks Dimir Aqueduct and Rakdos Carnarium i would put in Olivia Voldaren for sure. Chromatic Lantern and Doubling Cube oh ya and Gem of Becoming is an edh staple for grixis. for artifacts try Obelisk of Grixis and maybe the keyrunes or[signets. Gilded Lotus is very good too.Tamiyo, the Moon Sage works well when facing just about anything and so does Urabrask the Hidden take out Tezzeret the Seeker seeing as your running only 8 artifacts. try putting in Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded and the jace is good but someone will destroy it before you can do it's ultra ability so thats all but great grixis deck +1 from me :-]

I like it, but I'd recommend Reforge the Soul. Since you're in a bit of a reanimator/grave usage deck, it's quite useful. Also the discard can screw your opponents over pretty hardcore.
