Also I would pull the mox opal for expedition map or pithing needle. Tezz may be ok but you could always take him out for some more card draw via nights whisper, preordain, fact or fiction, thirst for knowledge, etc.

Lastly, I would pull a weaker counter like remand or delay for a hard counter, negate is always good and psychic strike is great, it might not seem like it but its a hard counter that doesn't have uu in its mana cost

@alexsmith21 - I think Mystical Tutor is a better card in General. 2 mana and A creature for any card or 1 mana for an Instant or Sorcery. I know that Thraximundar benefits from Diabolic Intent 's additional cost, but Mana is very important and Mystical Tutor can pull a Boardwipe, Counter, or Spot-Removal spell on the opposing players turn. Also, Diabolic Intent is a Sorcery, while Mystical Tutor can be played at Instant speed. I know that you have a nice number of Planeswalkers, but have you considered Tamiyo, the Moon Sage ? Her first ability is nice against creatures like Deathrite Shaman , Elvish Piper , or Arcanis the Omnipotent if you face those a lot, her second ability is just a little extra card draw, and her ultimate is incredible. Hope this helps!

@Human_Rogue_21: You make good points. I'm gonna swap it back in and see how it plays. I had Tamiyo, the Moon Sage in an earlier build but I pulled it because it just wasn't powerful enough for the mana cost. I found it to be more of a minor nuisance to other players rather then a strong control card.
@gavinjoaquinolivas: I like the idea of copying Wurmcoil Engine for a ton of its tokens, but I'm not sure it's worth a spot as a standalone. I could give it a try though. I was thinking about swapping Mercurial Chemister for Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind or Mind Unbound possibly. Thoughts?
As far as single card draw goes, I've decided to swap Graveborn Muse out for Syphon Mind .
I disagree with you about the counters though. Delay and Remand are hard counters. Remand serves dual purpose as being able to bounce my own spells back to my hand if they're going to be countered as well. Psychic Strike wouldn't be a bad counter though.

As said in the comments above, you don't attack often. Do you sort of choke your opponents out of the game?
A build utilizing Thrax's sacking ability and ending the game with general damage while still controlling the field of play is what I am considering. Though that build would/could be weak against a deck with a low amount of creatures.
If you're planning on adding in some graveyard hate then I agree with Gavin about adding in Psychic Strike

This deck has a few ways to win. It has 2 infinite combos involving Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker , one is infinite hastey creatures, the other is infinite turns. You're right though, generally I choke my wins out through a cruel form of control. In some games it becomes oppressive to play against, then a bomb like Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker will hit the field and some people will just scoop. When all else fails, Thrax can be a beat stick too.
I used to run a build similar to what you are considering. I utilized a lot of sac effects like Braids, Cabal Minion + Bitterblossom to buff my general and things like Aggravated Assault to speed the games up. If you're shooting for it, I found that playing high threat creatures clears the opponents hands of answers for you to play Thrax and swing away. Some spot-shot removal like Snuff Out and Terminate worked well too.

Graveborn muse should stay, it's much better IMO. But I mean if you delay my omniscience it's still coming in 3 turns, I agree remand is better though.

But knowing Omniscience is coming into play after a Delay adds some fun in-game dynamics too haha.
My thought process on Graveborn Muse being pulled was that with Syphon Mind I can get min. 3 cards now for the same amount of mana, when with the muse I would have to wait 4 turns in order to get that same number. Additionally, I can pull it back using Yawgy's will, Snapcaster Mage or Archaeomancer , allowing me to net more cards later too.

I had Diabolic Edict (similar effect) in the deck at one point, but I found that I would not always get rid of the creature I wanted gone. So I opted for spot removal instead.

Thanks for the comment. I like this deck alot. Though I could never afford one myself. I would have totally sold my jace off at this point.... Anyway, here is my +1, and I'm doing it as hard as I can.

Just wanna throw a couple cards onto you radar that helps with card draw, Arcanis the Omnipotent , Mind Unbound , Syphon Mind .
What are your thoughts on Cryptic Command ?

Breaking / Entering May be useful in GY hating other players

@TheAssassinCrab: Syphon Mind is already in the deck. It's a new addition but has been stellar so far. I had Arcanis the Omnipotent in the 2.0 version of this deck but pulled it because of it's speed. It felt too slow and was too blue-centric Breaking //Entering is too expensive IMO. The same mana cost to play Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker for 8 milled cards and one creature seems underwhelming here. I'd sooner run Reanimate .
I also like Cryptic Command , but for a spell in here it's far too saturated in blue mana to be viable 100% of the time.
I actually really like Mind Unbound as a card, and I've considered it before but I'm hesitant to put it in here due to its speed and mana cost. Thoughts?

@alexsmith21: glad to see Syphon in the build, missed that when suggesting the card.
I agree with playing Nicol Bolas over Breaking /Entering as his ultimate is really threatening to the opponent. I also think you're right about Cryptic Command being too blue saturated, and its speed will also become a hinderance for you.
Personally I think Mind Unbound would do great in this deck. I am gonna run it soon and find out, I think it is a great card because of the potential it has after being in play after a couple turns. It is weak in its speed, and high in its mana cost but effective mid-late game. This deck is not designed to kill opponents quickly therefore it will have time to build up that great card draw.

I understand the arguments for it, but I'm still hesitant. I'll try it in playtest and see what happens. If you wind up using it let me know how it works out for you!

Certainly will, got most of the research for my deck done, just a matter of picking up the cards now :)

The low price on your deck is 1500 dollars... I'm sure there are higher, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around that.
Like that's a 3 bedroom appt... or a cheap used car...

It's expensive yes haha. I've been building it for over two years and I'm very proud of some of the cards in this deck. Most of that is inflated by the mana base. But this is the only deck I pour that a lot of money into haha. Any suggestions on how to make it better?
December 15, 2013 3:41 a.m.
I've been looking at your deck on and off, and I guess I have a few problems...
almost everything that you have that can be played at instant speed is blue, if you're holding blue mana back we know we can be fucked with. But seeing as you're all controlly you're probably always be holding mana back, and your mana base is so varied it's hard to tell what you're holding back.
The mana base also makes you vulnerable to death by Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon , if someone manages to put one down when you can't do anything about it, but who likes mono-red anyway? (me:)
Also, since you mentioned that planeswalkers fit heavily into your playstyle, you might run into trouble with planeswalker hate. I run a Purphoros, God of the Forge deck for his second ability, which will naturally kill any planeswalker that hits the field, sometimes before they have a chance to loyalty ability.
lastly: there is NO reason to sideboard a tutor in commander, especially one that cheap.

Try taking out the chemister for grave Titan, frost Titan, or wurmcoil. They are all much more powerful and Kiki can make them disgusting.
