Welcome to Value Town!

Wild Pair is a card lots of people don't know about. It's slow, but the value can add up really fast and it's just so fun. Give it a try, it costs so little!

Wild Pair is really good at being a toolbox, so ETB effects have great value. Drop Coiling Oracle, get a free Trostani's Summoner! Counter a spell with Mystic Snake, get Cloudblazer to refill your hand or Acidic Slime to get rid of a nasty enchantment !

Since we're using lots of ETBs, Panharmonicon is massive. In the beginning, the deck used ETBs that created big tokens, but going wide gives more options and fits better since you're already getting so many creatures out at the same time. So lots of cards let you get many tokens at once, doubled by Parallel Lives (though Doubling Season would be better instead/in addition, but I don't have it), and reward for it. For even more value, many cards allow you to copy creatures or enchantments.

And even though the deck is really built around having Wild Pair on board, only three cards tutor for it because the every card can do something by itself.

The game plan

Now you might ask yourself: how does this win, when the biggest creature (general aside) is a 2/2, and at most 4/4 considering tokens? Well, all of them can be resumed as: go wide and play tons of creatures.

When you can use Wild Pair to get free Hornet Queen, Ponyback Brigade or Evangel of Heliod, your board fills back fast even if that's merely 8-10 power. But then, you play Beastmaster Ascension, attack with an army of 6/6 and 7/7 creatures and deal something like 40 damage.

Getting a free Hornet Queen is already unfair, especially with Panharmonicon (twice the tokens AND a second wild pair trigger) and Parallel Lives... but now, just add a Cathars' Crusade in there. You played a 2/2 that got a 2/2 and 4 1/1s, and now they ALL get 6 +1/+1 counters (and your other creatures), in addition to the first 2/2's ETB.

Now, Cathars' Crusade kinda ruins the free Wild Pair search given by Panharmonicon, but if you have all 3, the same scenario as above will give you 2 22/22 and 8 21/21 (with flying). That's how ridiculous things can go when you start assembling pieces.

Getting a big board is good, but sometimes you need to be fast and attack immediatly because you know a board clear is coming or something you can't remove will kill you before your next turn. That's where Flame-Kin Zealot comes in. After you build a big board, play another 2/2 (or a 1/1 and let Cathars' Crusade resolve before Wild Pair), and boom everything has haste.

Sometimes, no one can attack. Everyone has a board, but no board wipe. If someone attacks, everything gets chump blocked and that player dies on board. So, let's play the turtle game too and win through Epic Struggle.

Now, there's one last win condition, but it can only be used as a last resort when everything failed: Rally the Ancestors. Bring back everything, shit out a billion tokens and, at the very end of all the triggers, resolve Flame-Kin Zealot's ETB and swing for a massive strike. If you don't have your Beastmaster Ascension or Cathars' Crusade anymore, you can get them back too with Replenish.

The deck is fairly slow and doesn't play or ramp much in the first two turns. It's fine, many lands enter tapped anyway. You'll usually want to ramp until you have at least 6 mana, then start playing your enablers (Panharmonicon and Wild Pair, mostly). If you don't have those, you should be able to last long enough to draw/tutor them. Because it doesn't have the explosive start some decks have, it will often go under the radar and you won't take more than chip damage. Even your enchantments aren't that scary. Sure they'll give big value, but it still gives a turn to do something about the final board.

Deck synergies and possible plays

Eerie Interlude + Rally the Ancestors / Ghostway + Rally the Ancestors : Resurrect your board, get a ton of ETBs, then blink it all. You get another wave of ETBs and keep your board. Very helpful for a surprise Epic Struggle win (though you don't need the bounce for that, but Eerie Interlude can create a few more tokens if you need them)

Archaeomancer + Eerie Interlude , Archaeomancer + Ghostway , Eerie Interlude + Eternal Witness , Eternal Witness + Ghostway , Eerie Interlude + Izzet Chronarch and Ghostway + Izzet Chronarch : Exile your board, get a wave of ETBs at the end of the turn, get back your blink, repeat.

Tishana, Voice of Thunder + Wild Pair : It's fairly simple, but very effective when you order triggers right. Play Tishana with only one or two other cards in hand, get a token generator, draw 5+ cards. This also works if you play a token generator and get Tishana from your deck.

Mistveil Plains + Wild Pair : Pretty straightforward. Allows you to resurrect a creature from your graveyard when you play a creature.

Cathars' Crusade + Glen Elendra Archmage : Infinite Negates for U, while pumping your board every time.

Mirrorpool + Mystic Snake : Getting a counterspell is always handy

Thoughts on cards not in the deck

For reference I play online, the deck costs 15 tix.

Avenger of Zendikar and Craterhoof Behemoth: Avenger is too expensive, and getting only either isn't great (not that good and can't tutor the other)

Doubling Season: Great, probably next addition to the deck

Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge: Tremors doesn't do that much, and Purphoros puts a big red target on you.

Warstorm Surge: Great card with Cathars' Crusade out, but so tiring to target everything on MTGO. Much better on paper magic where it goes smoother.

Idyllic Tutor: Plea for Guidance is quite expensive, and while it's good to get a second enchantment you only really need Wild Pair, good replacement

Mana Crypt, Mana Vault and other fast rocks: I don't like these much, add them if you want. Consider Trinket Mage if you do.

Vedalken Orrery: Playing at instant speed is obviously good, and this would obviously fit in paper, but online re
