I like oust. It helps me a lot, though there have been some compelling arguments for Arrest

The deck is nice but its biggest enemy is going to be aggro even though you have alot of elim you still need lower cost ways to reset. All Is Dust is a game winner for you but i suggest 2-3 Day of Judgment s for 1x Condemn , 1x Oust and 1x Tempered Steel . Condemn and Oust are good but with all of once again aggro eats you. Plus a well placed day can ruin a control decks day. (no pun intended) Also with limited critters Days don't hurt you as much.
Hope it helps
P.s. Limited critters is the reasoning for lowering on steel.

Arrest is good if you just want to lock the critter down, but is prone to enchantment destruction. Oust is good cause it gets it off the battlefield and not quite as many things mess with it. Now your on the two turn clock before whatever it is comes back though. It depends on personal preference and your mana curve.

I see what you are cooking up.
I think I may change to x3 tempered steel, x3 condemn and +2 day of judgment to start, as Oust is so cheap, and I like to get it in my hand. Plus I want to make sure I have a Corpse Cur or Mimic vat handy when I cast Day of Judgment too.
I could even just sideboard All is Dust for Day of judgment for a third, but I just like the synergy All is Dust has...minus the cost.
Thanks for the ideas to chew on.

After all the games I have played I have to say that Oust is one of the more useful cards in my decks, and Armored Ascension wins me more games than I would have thought.
March 6, 2011 7:53 p.m.
Honestly I totally forget about Armored Ascension in standard. In limited I know it's there I use it and play around it but in constructed it flies right over my head. If I think about it Oust is kind of a mind game. Your opponent is thinking 'I just need to get that card back' instead of activating a shuffle ability or it stagnates the deck stopping them from drawing what they need.
Hmm.... interesting...

YES!!
It is totally a mind game. I had this one game where I started with 2 Oust in hand and on turn 2 my opponent dropped a creature. I dropped a creature on my turn 3 and ousted his baddude. On his turn 3 he dropped another creature and was done. On my turn 4 I ousted again (drew a third oust) and played a second creature while attacking with my necropede for 1 poison. On his turn four he re-played his creature from before again but seemed unexcited about it on turn 4 because he felt two turns behind. When I ousted a creature again all he could do was laugh.

That's just wrong. I like it when you Oust something they just sacrificed a bunch of eldrazi spawn for or card:Demon of Death's Gate the look on their face is so priceless you almost feel bad.

Thank ye kindly. You should test it out. Besides my mimic vat control deck, this is my favorite deck to play.

I had a similar experience with Silence . One game I repeatedly (drew 3 by turn 2) cast it during the opponent's upkeep. After the third time he just looked at me over his glasses and said in a funny way, "that is getting quite annoying, friend."

Can anybody say... trollscoop?

I don't know what trollscoop is?
I like the combo though...just not for this deck.

I am still waiting for someone to explain TROLLSCOOP.
Which in the meantime, while I am waiting, gives me an idea for a blog article about Magic.
"Magic Slang" the street dictionary of strange Magic terminology used throughout the world to help describe the game flavorfully.

That's a great idea. Would be fun to write. You could invite people to give you lists of slang terms they use. You could show differences by geographical location etc.
I am thinking trollscoop refers to someone losing who was playing shrouded creatures such as Thrun?? But it's like calling that player a troll because they played a troll. Therefore devising combos that get past creatures like thrun Is a trollscoop?

Naw man, trolling, like internet trolling.
"You best be trolling." = "I hope you're kidding, because what you're saying is utterly idiotic"
So trollscoop would be someone who is scooping to be an absolute ass. Not really sure how Sunblast+vat would do that, but whatever. I mean killing their creatures after they declare attackers isn't that wonderful. Especially if they're attacking with any of the titans.
Also this is an aggro deck, No_Scoops, so he would be destroying his own creatures.

I see.
I feel like I am ever inching closer to the truth, but I never actually know the truth.
Kind of like the X-files.

It's kind of like that when you learn anything new. Whether it's a language, game, job, or even a lifestyle. You feel feel dawn of realization coming but the sun never fully rises.
At least that's how it feels for someone like me that's not really good at anything, just a little bit of everything. I'm a generalist I'll never be able to see the sun rise, just the moments before the dawn.
Maybe I went a little too deep there. Sorry theemptyquiver and everyone else for that rambling.

You are welcome to have you own private soliloquy here if you like.
Keeps things interesting.

Lol. Glad to know you got some entertainment out of it.
Still think you should do a Magic dictionary blog.
Maybe one more Sun Titan in the deck or is that too much none infect?
March 11, 2011 8:43 p.m.
theemptyquiver says... #22
I have labored over that. I have a spare Titan I could throw in.
I have Mimic Vat, Emeria Land, Corpse Cur and Sun Titan all as possible grave extractors...but having more Sun Titan seems to take more focus away from the core deck idea. With just the one he is more like a utility card, rather than something that I need. If I get him later on he is a big help to keep pressure on and it give the opponent some fits on decision making, because they see it as a threat regardless. Not as some creature they shouldn't worry about because I don't care about their life points.
It's actually kind of funny. To me it just brings back things I have lost, but to an opponent it becomes a focal point.
I could eventually go up to two, but I just don't know what I would do to add it in.
March 11, 2011 8:57 p.m.
They should've trollscooped by turn -2 by now anyways
March 11, 2011 10:13 p.m.
One Sun Titan should work fine, upon further thought, about 2 hrs while driving, one should do you fine since you have a ton of recursion and it would just be drawing away from infect.
Bone thrown?

Yeah. I agree about the leylines. I need more. All my decks are cards-I-own decks.
I'll have to maybeboard it until I can get more.
2 sounds nice, three seems excessive, but I will consider the ratios a bit more.
Yeah. The p. Angel is a bit weird, but it's a nice "surprise" card to have against control decks to have if they have stalled me out. It's not designed as a card to lean on. I view it more like a fire alarm, but it is certainly expendable if you have a good replacement for the spot.
