Magda, Brazen Outlaw is a card I've always wanted to build around for a while, but could never quite get right! So I did more research, and with the Lord of the Rings set out, I just wanted to see what I could come up with! It's a budget deck, but that won't stop me from listing some powerful stuff for down-the-road purchasing I'd this works!
Update: I've added Bolos Citadel to the mix for a number of reasons, the main one being both being able to play the top card of your library for life is a powerful piece, and sacking 10 nonlands (a.k.a. Treasure tokens) to deal 10 damage, and then 10 again with Mirkwood Bats seems pretty gross.
I'm also keeping Clock of Omens as a possible combo generator with Magda, Brazen Outlaw + Universal Automaton
.
Weakest Cards So Far:
Reaper King
Taurean Mauler
In play testing against a buddy, this deck is EXTREMELY vulnerable to removal!
V2 -- Cards swapped out, Taurean Mauler, Clock of Omens, Bolos's Citadel (was briefly added, but then put in the sideboard, it was oddly didn't impact the field enough, but will keep for testing purposed).
Cards Swapped in, Rite of Replication, Elixer of Immortality x2, Panharmonicon.
Key card - Coveted Prize, this is a 1 black tutor (as long as 4 changelings are on the field) for any card, and play anything in your hand that costs 4 or less, regardless of color. A ONE MANA PLAY A 4 DROP!!! I don't know how this has gone under the radar for so long. This was the main reason why both Mirkwood Bats and Panharmonicon are so powerful. If I'm short a land and I have a changeling out, I tutor for a land, then get to play a 4 drop from my hand, and then play the land!
Cards to consider, Aura Shards. This card is crazy for a reason, and enchantments run rampant at my table, so having a way to deal with them is powerful, and tutorable with Coveted Prize.
