R/G Hydra deck that's all about turning the board sideways and whacking for insane amounts of damage using X-cost spells, Kalonian Hydra (and it's ability to double counters), and a lot of mana ramp that makes it all possible.
Cards like Elvish Mystic, Sylvan Caryatid, Gyre Sage, Burning-Tree Emissary and Satyr Hedonist are used to ramp mana, while still maintaining pressure using Burning-Tree Emissary, Kalonian Tuskers, Gyre Sage's, counters and the occasional Ghor-Clan Rampage.
Every card except the Elvish Mystic will trigger Gyre Sage's evolve.
Most cards except the Kalonian Hydra, Kalonian Tusker, and
Ghor-Clan Rampager
can be played off the Burning-Tree Emissary.
The ramp in the deck leads to early-game Kalonian Hydras giant Savageborn Hydras. Both of which are threatening board presences without the necessary removal.
BUT because this block has all kinds of removal, Savage Summoning is in the mainboard to play uncounterable hydras and occasional Gyre Sages with an extra +1/+1 counter that essentially have haste.
Clan Defiance is in the sideboard as an additional source of game winning damage and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is in their for some more instant/sorcery hate.
ALSO
Burning Earth
and
Ember Swallower
are in the 'maybe board' just in case these precautions aren't enough.
Arbor Colossus
is in the sideboard because Stormbreath Dragon exists.
I'm pretty sure 'Mistcutter' is a new MTG euphemism for "F*** you, Blue" so that explains
Mistcutter Hydra
.
Overall the deck has been very solid and has some great synergy. It lands some big hydras fast enough to be relevant in tournament play, but obviously it has its weaknesses (Its a good thing "Stop Shocking my dorks" is so fun to say, because otherwise I wouldn't be such a happy person) so any suggestions are appreciated!
