I'm curious why you aren't running a playset of Ancient Den ? It increases holy quickly you can achieve Metalcraft and plays the same as a Plains.

@ Teifling

You should have seen this deck in it's casual selesnya format. Way too slow for modern, but it had Parallel Lives and Coat of Arms in there as well. Plus full play-sets of Conqueror's Pledge and Nomads' Assembly as well. Excellent in multiplayer games like Emperor. I once playtested it against my casual healing deck as well, and it was a stalemate for 20 or so turns. Healing guy had Aurification and had Ajani Goldmane 's final plus Wall of Reverence and Rhox Faithmender on the field.

Basically, selesnya kor token had to wait till it had 3 Coat of Arms on the field before attacking, dealing over 11,000 damage to the opponent who had around 9,000 health. That was truly insane. Kor token was lucky to win, because healing guy had Whispersilk Cloak s in their, but none of them showed up.

And thanks for the +1~

Ancient Den is illegal in modern.

I think the assembly and pledge are a bit too slow when only running 17 land. I think Shuko or Cranial Plating would better fit the deck. I have a deck Deck i made in about 5mins and found was hilarious which is more focused on paladin, but uses kor as well. It's quite similar so take a look if you want.

17 land is all I need. I've playtested this hundreds of times and it works wonders. The one key item you are forgetting is the additional mana from my creatures with Paradise Mantle , and Steelshaper's Gift for the tutor on said mantle. Both are already on one one mana, so I've gotten through games with the first 4 turns only having one plains. I mean hey, when using this deck yourself and you want to take out a Conqueror's Pledge for one mana, by all means do so, I just really enjoy the smoothness the rule of 17 gives me.

And thanks for the +1~

Would you mind glancing at Poor Legions, is there cheap, yet effective changes I could make to what I have thus far ?

Sorry for the double post, but i thought I should mention I was using Kor Skyfisher instead of Kitesail Apprentice so that whenever i used Kor Skyfisher I could return a 0 mana cost artifact to my hand, then recast it, in order to trigger the "Draw a card". Does this work the way I am intending it to ?

Nice deck. +1 from me.

I really don't have any idea, what can help this deck, maybe just to be aware of Day of Judgment card types. And a note that you probably know - never forget that Lightning Greaves must be the last equipment you attach to some creature, since it gives the creature shroud.. It does not matter much with that many creatures here and when it is equipped for 0, but when you have only 1 creature on the field, it might become a problem.

Okay, I had built a puresteel deck when I first started playing, and I love the way this deck goes, but may I suggest Path to Exile , Dispense Justice , and or Blade Splicer . Removal is always super needed, and its a decent choice. Path to Exile, should always be a four of imo, its just too damn good. Splicer gives you a blocker and a first striker artifact. Super sweet. Anyway, +1. Come on down and check out my deck The Knight, The Paladin, and The Planeswalker. Peace

@ OFABass

Dispense Justice and Blade Splicer aren't necessary in this deck, they are too slow. If I was going to run Dispense Justice I would throw in Wrath of God or Day of Judgment instead, as I don't have to worry to much because of my Conqueror's Pledge and Nomads' Assembly , which I found time and time again while facing against numerous U/W control. Blade Splicer would destroy my numbers and flow, it doesn't get buffed when equipped and isn't kor.

Another thing to consider, I don't need to worry about creatures attacking me because most of the time I have a creature with massive toughness that also has reach or flying that can block whatever I want.

My main concern really is decks with forms of unblockable creatures, especially Blighted Agent , or flying creatures in aggro decks and Voltron decks of sorts. So this deck dies horribly when facing against my exalted deck 300 and Alone because it contains both.

However in all other situations, Brave the Elements does me a lot better than Path to Exile because it prevents creature control besides wraths. Most creature based decks I don't have to worry about, because even if I'm attacking with only a 5/9 double strike vigilance creature, they usually want to block that, so there goes whatever combo they have.

If I find out with newer expansions and different decks becoming popular, I may swap Brave the Elements with Path to Exile , but the necessity is for Brave the Elements at the moment.

Thank you for the +1 though~

I completely understand. They way your deck runs bases itself around puresteel, and armament boosting creatures, if they get path to exiled, you kinda just lose it seems. Having a shit ton of dudes is great, especially with tarmogoyf, how do you deal with it? Not having removal, in a removal based format is honestly silly imo, but to each their own. The deck is extremely creative, but competitively, it just dies...unfortunately.

Actually OFABass, most of my wins are by Kor Duelist or Kitesail Apprentice alone, it's faster and works for my meta. I live in Canada, and Canada likes control. Kind of goes against what you said for removal. The description for this deck was made with the psychology of tappedout in mind. I mean, just look at Swamps. I'll probably never get this deck to #1 any time soon because of that deck ... it costs $10! $10!!!

I play this deck like a distraction against removal based decks, also apparently similar to what edh players play (don't play edh so I wouldn't know). I play my one drops and give them some equipments and attack with them. The important part here is to force the opponent to play removal onto something else. The main combo, while leaving my one drops alone to attack and force the opponent to block them. Unless they have deathtouch, I probably won't lose a creature thanks to the double strike on Kor Legions, and the toughness buff on Spidersilk Net and Accorder's Shield . Control decks play slowly, so why don't I play slowly as well? That is what I've learned from playing against control decks, and I've been playing against them in surplus since I started magic, and it works.

I know very well that this deck isn't competitive, my exalted deck fits that description a lot better. But I don't go to the competitive tournaments. I don't have the time, academics, work, relationships. I am a girl after all, if I went to tournaments all the time where would be my time to party and shop?

... I also think I just made suggestions to my own deck on the last comment, such a bad habit x.x

Don't diss Swamp , directly or indirectly... A lot of thought and suggestions went into that deck, and it well deserves its place at #1 deck on the site.

You should consider adding Golem-skin gauntlets. Oh, and I don't see why not adding 4x ancient den, because it would trigger puresteel's metalcraft faster. Nice deck

Femme_Fatale says... #20

@ MoHalen

Ancient Den is illegal in modern.

Golem-Skin Gauntlets doesn't cost 0 so it will actually slow me down during the draw combo chain. I will allow Lightning Greaves as the only non-0 cmc equipment as it works wonderfully well with Leonin Shikari and doesn't require Puresteel Paladin thanks to its 0 mana cost equip.

+1, Clearly a great deck.

I can't exactly afford the 100.00 price tag, so to slightly modify the deck to make it MUCH more budget, I took out all the nonbasic lands (replaced with regular plains), the Leyline of Sanctity and replaced that with 2x Grafdigger's Cage and 1x Rest in Peace . While this obviously makes this deck not as good, I reduced the price by 50%, and i dont think there is THAT much of a difference in the quality/speed in the deck.

September 28, 2013 6:18 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #22

You could always use Witchbane Orb instead of Leyline of Sanctity Seten, much easier to remove, harder to bring out, but costs a lot less.

Thanks for the +1~

It's awesome that you're so into Kor. They're my absolute favorite tribe. +1 from me.

Have you tried Kor Skyfisher ? Her bounce effect pairs well with 0 drop equipment and puresteel's draw ability. It's just a little combo that can annoy your opponents. Plus, a 2/3 flier for 2 isn't bad.

Thanks for the +1 Euphonatron~

And yeah, even in a very simple casual deck they were ridiculous.

One of the guys who was making a budget version of this put in Kor Skyfisher for exactly that reason. And I do agree it is a good idea, but doesn't work too well in this set up for a variety of reasons.

I must have a turn one creature in my hand against a variety of decks. Because without that creature I get behind a turn against aggro decks, preventing me from buffing it with equipments early on to block their onslaught. Against control it is necessary otherwise they'll just counter it and I won't be able to do any form of damage to them for many more turns to come.

It weakens the Paradise Mantle + Lightning Greaves play all one mana cost creatures in your hand combo, as then I'll never have that many one mana cost creatures. The surplus of them is also really useful in getting out those game winning sorceries early on especially if I have Puresteel Paladin .

Putting another 2 mana cost creature means I'll need to put in some more land. This deck has been able to win matches on only 1 land for the first 3-4 turns, and that is because of the rule of 17 this deck follows, an even amount of everything. The one mana drops and the Steelshaper's Gift and Paradise Mantle allow me to fill up my board without having to worry about lack of mana.

I don't really need to worry about the flyer, I have Kitesail Apprentice and Spidersilk Net for the anti-flying cards, both of which are effective enough. And Kor Skyfisher is a one-time use only, meaning it doesn't get buffed by any equipment. Thanks to the one mana drops I can do 4-6 damage on turn 2, not much compared to other decks, but considering one is double strike and the other is flying, it is an advantage over decks that just use a buffed creature as I can get through my opponents defenses without any losses much more easier.

I need to update my description a bit more ... I have an argument for pretty much everything.
