Why rant against a obvious troll post? At the very least, get your formats straight.

Maybe instead of bone saw, you could add shuko? better synergy with the paladin, and with the shikari, it's almost a free combat trick

Shuko costs 1, Bone Saw is free. Puresteel washes the equip cost away. I like Bone saw better. Except in Spiderman.

Seeing as you have this 300$ deck labeled as budget...and Puresight Merrow can be played with white mana which is what the rest of the deck uses.. you can shave off some cost by dropping Hallowed Fountain for just Plains and your average cm is cheap enough that you probably don't need Cavern of Souls ... bam that's around a 60$ shave. Just looking out for your wallet

I'm not risking function, consistency nor resiliency for cards that are relatively cheap. There is no reason to not run Cavern of Souls in a near tribal deck. Hallowed Fountain is there to prevent a lot of life-loss from Spellskite . The fact that this deck is listed as budget does not mean I'm trying to make it budget, it means it is generally 3x cheaper than your average modern deck. This deck certainly used to be about $200, but the advanced sideboard, legacy death and taxes becoming a thing, and the fact that modern is becoming more popular, all incorporate to the increased price. My 300 and Alone went up like ... $250, since Modern Masters, though it was partly due to the Deathrite Shaman banning.

Its a good deck, my issue is the lack of kor (maybe one more) because sometimes I equip the hell out of armament master and have trouble making kor (if you get stuck on land). I've only played a couple practice games though, so it might just be luck at this time.
I would suggest at least one or two swords/badass equipment. You are already running steelshaper's gift, so just 1 good sword of fire and ice or something might make the difference. I thought I wouldn't like the puresight merrow combo but it does seem to work out quite nicely! Overall, I played this in standard (yes against caw blade it did fail frequently, but I thought it was quite powerful if Jace didn't exist), and my first legacy deck used this. Kor are severely underrated as a tribe (armament master is ridiculous). I really wish a card like puresteel or at least one more powerful kor was printed for modern (aside from the obvious banned card, sfm should be only allowed in specifically kor based decks, lol).

Thanks for the playtesting AlbinoRaven, but I won't use anything above 0 cmc cost equipments besides Lightning Greaves . The main reason is the draw mechanic on Puresteel Paladin , as doing that draw chain with him is really powerful, but it is now even more important with Puresight Merrow , as I'll be using those 0 cmc equipments as the draw function in which to tutor up my cards.
Beyond that, we have the early game aggro with Kor Duelist and Kitesail Apprentice . Dropping one of those down turn one and then being able to follow up with an equipment or two on them is really powerful, particularly BoNeSaW. A sword etc would really diminish the benefits of this early game play. While a pure Kor aggro deck would certainly use things like Bonesplitter , Shuko and a few swords, this is a aggro-combo deck, and those cards wouldn't help the combo.

Good point, I can see where you are going, as it can basically get completely out of hand on a splinter twin level (I did have a game that was going nowhere until I got the puresight merrow with a paradise mantle). It is a very deep deck actually, a lot of the time you need to know the pieces you have more than the deck needs to give you something. It's definitely competitive, I feel like it has more potential (although you have done a wonderful job, I have saved it to my own personal library for next time I want to brew and I need inspiration), I just haven't figured it out yet (I miss white removal too).

Thanks a lot for the compliments AlbinoRaven ^u^
As for competitive potential, if played by a professional, it can definitely make it far. However I agree with you on the more potential thing, and I haven't figured it out either. I think this is because those cards just aren't out yet, and hopefully they might come out within the next 2 years.
As for what those potential cards might be ... I have no idea. Maybe if we get a return to Zendikar, then we'll see some beastly one and two drop Kors, and maybe a 3 or 4 mana Kor token generator. Maybe we'll see some more offensive 0 mana cost equipments. I'm all for Vigilance and Reach and being able to evade Lightning Bolt , but as someone pointed out to me before, this deck is really defensive until you get Armament Master and Conqueror's Pledge out. This was before Puresight Merrow , in which that same person suggested. While I like the card, the deck can be a lot more resilient without having to rely on it, and that is what I hope the future will bring.

Femme_Fatale why are you running the nonbasic lands? Would you not be fine with only plains? Am I missing something?

Thanks Mucklarbert~
And the reason for running nonbasic lands sergiodelrio is because there really is no reason not to. There are only two cards that do not benefit from Cavern of Souls , and those are Steelshaper's Gift , Puresight Merrow and Path to Exile in the side. The same goes for Hallowed Fountain , as the life loss from just two lands is minimal in comparison to the life kept from using Spellskite in the sideboard. As for Flagstones of Trokair , normally that would be just something to shuffle my deck once I've drawn lots of cards and for extra resilience against whatever land destruction may be out there, but now it has a clear purpose in tutoring for my Hallowed Fountain when I got Spellskite . Land hate is only used when the opponent has a clear number of them in their deck. There are a lot of other sideboard cards that they would put in instead of land hate, so I'm not worried about that.

Very nice deck. I played around with a deck very similar to this for awhile. I had a few suggestions such as Bonesplitter and Sylvok Lifestaff , but it took me a while to figure out what you were trying to accomplish with this deck. I prefer a straight quick aggro build myself, but you are going for the combo to get your conquerer's pledge or endless draw going.
One thing that could be useful is a couple copies of Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . Not sure if there is enough devotion, but could be worth a shot.

Femme_Fatale says... #17
The only turn Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would actually benefit me in anyway are in the turns 3+. Now having a land that A) does not give me coloured mana in those first two turns, and B) relies purely on my board state, is not a good card. There are too many situations in which Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is an utter hindrance to this deck to ever include it pacman3.
September 5, 2014 2:50 a.m.
oh ok. Also I forgot for sideboard maybe Kor Firewalker against burn decks. Meta-dependent to include them though.

Leyline of Sanctity is much better pacman3. It prevents more than just RDW, it prevents discard, storm, numerous combos and mill. I also don't have to worry about red creatures all too much thanks to the heavy average toughness of my creatures.

Nice deck, love the synergy and the combos!
What do you normally tend to remove when you sideboard cards in?

why is there the hallowed fountain? I see no reason for it at all

Explorer's Scope is good at cleaning off the lands from the top of your library. Helps ramp and smooth out draws. Its the courser of kruphix of equipment.

Leonin Shikari and Auriok Steelshaper are generally the first to go considering their limited impact on the game, TDemers. Beyond that it is shaving down numbers on the cards that are 3 and 4 cmc. We are brought to the point where every card is important in the deck, but its level of importance changes depending on the very specific deck structure my opponent has. So studying every game and every card and every action really carefully is important in order to figure out the entire structure of their deck. Once you have done that, you replace the cards with a lesser impact on the opponent's deck with cards that will have a greater impact on your opponent's deck. And this relies on knowing the very subtle interactions and conflicts all your cards have with each other card in terms of the frequency that each of them occur, but also knowing how they interact with your opponent's cards and how they influence your opponent's decisions.
In a nutshell, piloting this deck requires a lot of experience with it.
Read my sideboard explanation on Spellskite , Murpy.
Explorer's Scope is not a 0 cmc equipment card Felixlives, so therefore, it will hinder the deck more than it will benefit. It also poses no immediate static benefit too my creatures that have relevance on my opponent's turn. It relies on a specific condition to be met to grant any benefit, which for the most part means it is a dead card. Finally, it is utterly useless when you compare it with the superior draw mechanics of Puresteel Paladin and the superior xilling scry mechanics of Puresight Merrow .
