Based on the concept of getting more use out of each mana you spend than the opponent. Versatile, efficient spells to cover as many situations as possible.
Originally had Rakdos Kiln Fiend & Nivmagus Elemental as an all-in glass cannon build: Firemind's Gut Check
Wanted to build a more FNM ready deck based on the same strategy. I was inspired by Gavin Curd's Jeskai Prowess Unblockable and ended up with a build mirroring Barry Novak's Kiln Fiend Combo: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=90350
Arrived at this build by modding for personal preferences and budget. Next order of business is a sideboard and a more proper land base (lookin' at you, Scalding Tarn and Snapcaster Mages)
Sideboard varies up strategy primarily by changing your finisher from one to another. Focuses more on making changes the opponents doesn't expect rather than adapting to what you're facing.
UPDATE 28Dec15: Boosted land base with a playset of Flooded Strands, a second Steam Vents, and the first utility land in Slayers' Stronghold. Dropped both Temur Battle Rages for a third Remand and fourth Serum Visions. Additionally, switched up sideboard to add the Twin Exarch combo (potentially building toward Patriot Twin so testing in this build's sideboard).
UPDATE 17Jan16: Added 2 Snapcaster Mages (not 4 for budget) and 2 Soulfire Grand Masters. To make room, dropped 2 Monastery Swiftspears, Narset Transcendent, and 1 of 3 Gitaxian Probes. Playtesting Stormchaser Mages over Swiftspears, and will be reverting back to an actual sideboard in the wake of the Splinter Twin banning.
UPDATE 4Jul17: Happy Independence Day! Haven't touched this deck in ages and thought the American birthday would be fitting. I've been jamming UB Faeries as my competitive deck and loving it, and so I want to make this more of a pet deck. I have a thing for dragons, so Jeskai Dragons here we come. I plan to build it so that the early game is control as I set my board up, then turn the table with some flying monsters. To do this, the creatures (minus Geist, he's staying) are becoming dragons and my rebound spells are becoming counters. Burn will stay in (zapping creatures early on, then doming the opponent in the late game). This will be a place for me to play my favorite cards, even though they're not the best for modern (i.e. Ojutai, Mindswipe, Deflecting Palm, etc.)
