Ok, so it's not really a combo deck exactly. It's a grindy attrition deck that can combo to win. It can also go more aggro or get even more grindy.
I tried a few iterations of this deck previously (they weren't great), but Pauper just got some new toys that more easily allow it to be 2-color, and more easily allow combo wins: Namely,
Mortician Beetle
and
Falkenrath Noble
have landed as downshifted commons as part of MM2017.
Beetle is basically a better sac beneficiary than we had previously with Carrion Feeder (though he's not an outlet). We get extra value from our opponent's being forced to sac, value from sac-ing to Feeder, value from having multiples in play, and more of an ability to go offensive when needed. We can win by making these guys big and swinging early where needed.
But now the deck can also just plain win on the spot through Noble by going infinite through Ivy Lane Denizen and Safehold Elite with a sac engine on the field. But that 4-card setup is asking a lot, so I tried to build something that can also win through plain old synergies and value. We can chump for days, make our sac outlets big, kill opposing creatures with good sac-based removal, and recur through Death Denied.
I've also added some tutors in
Dimir House Guard
and
Wirewood Herald
, to increase the likelihood that we can assemble the combo and win.
Feel free to leave suggestions to help refine this thing. It also needs a real name.
