3 Anglers are incredibly heavy for a deck that has no self mill. Replace 1-2 of them and the dark rituals (what are you accelerating at) with 4 Phyrexian Rager. Distress in the SB should be duress, as Mono B is not scared of creature-based threats. 2 shrivels and 1 pestillence should be replaced by 4th crypt rats and 2 Undying Evil/Unearth for some grindier matchups.

Hi Boza. I tried rager, and it's extremely underwhelming. I know its run in most basic builds, but its the wrong choice. It only adds one devotion, and while it replaces itself, is a vanilla 2/2. I'd rather draw a read the bones as a 3 drop, or Oubliette, or an edict and a tapped land, if removal is needed. Unearth isn't good, bc I run too few relevant less than 4-drops. I don't run Crypt Rats, I run Chittering Rats, bc it's just better in general. It keeps my opponents back a turn, and is my basic vanilla bear in this deck, with the best upside. Undying Evil is a decent sb choice, and combos well with merchant, but I'd rather have it die and get two creatures back with Font of Return. I've tested undying evil, and font is better. It lands early, keeps grindy opponents honest, and doesn't get hit by Dispel. And, there's no removal for it in relevant matches, except 2 for one-ing it with echoing truth AND a counter of some sort. Thanks for the suggestions, though. They're good, but I've tried most of them already, and my curent build runs more smootly.

Are there any replacements for oubliette? Would cards like doomblade work for a while? don't really want to shell out the cash for it incase my playgroup doesnt stick with pauper.

Hey, warthog177. There is really no replacement for oubliette for a specific reason...it adds to devotion AND is removal. Its an odd intersection of good things for the deck. Sad to say, it needs a reprint. Dunno of it'll get one. As far as removal goes, i wouldn't use doomblade. Better to use either Unmake or Victim of Night.

Mcabe thanks for the tact, then. My deckbuilding tends to not be for everybody, lol. I dont believe because a deck is good that it is sacred and could use no updates, ever. I try things that sometimes work and sometimes dont. That said, i usually just go with my gut. Thanks for the view!

I think this is the correct, you should experiment at the worst at least you have deeper understanding of the deck, at the best you find a better build. The extensive maybeboard shows a healthy willingness to experiment. This is also better adjusted for the current meta.

The maybeboard are all basically cards that are marginally not good enough in an open meta, but knowing your meta is key, yes.
