Have you considered Shivan Reef for this? or maybe in non-budget version?

I built this deck and have been playing it with my local group of budget-Modern friends. I've probably played it a dozen times and haven't lost yet. I came close to losing a hand last night when an opponent hit me with 15 damage on turn 4 with a goblin token deck, but I drew Grapeshot and won on turn 5. Someone tried to take it down with Pithing Needle but could only get one down (and I'd remove it with Banishing Knack or Retraction Helix anyway).

It's a brilliant deck because of all the different winning combos, and Taigam's Scheming in there to search for any missing pieces.

I have to say, though, that in my group of regular friends, this deck has limited entertainment value. I usually play it when I get sick of losing with other decks. There's almost no interaction with the other players during the game, and my friends don't like to see it come out. But that's a "too much winning" critique.

Hey Hobo! I love this deck and I'm seriously considering buying it.

I just have one question.

Why do you have 3 Psychic Spiral and 2 Vandalblast in the sideboard?

@Gfdbobthe3: Affinity and mill are two popular decks in my meta. I actually just run a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth but the Psychic Spirals are a nice budget alternative that also countermills your opponent. Vandalblast can remove a problematic artifact early or clear a board late. To be honest. Besides say Dispel and Altar of the Brood the rest of the sideboard is there for fringe cases left over from the pauper version of this deck and meant to fill the sideboard. Your goal is to combo off ASAP. If you have to slow down to deal with your opponent's deck, you have pretty much lost anyways. That's the biggest problem with a one-trick pony combo deck.

For a later upgrade, I recommend Gifts Ungiven. While very expinsive at around $10-$25, It would help search for your combo pieces in late game.

Awesome deck for $10. Playtested some (against no one) and got combo on turns 6, 4, 5, 5, 5, 16, 5, 5, and 15. Although these numbers could be far from average, I'd pay $10 for a deck that wins 7 of 9 times against a deck that's not control or burn

Easily a Considerable Starting point for an amazing deck.

Looks like a nice deck. I'll be using this to simulate a budget storm deck one of my friends is making so I can fight it more effectively.

Wouldn't Molten Nursery actually be better than Nettle Drone, because it's less expensive, and you don't have to wait for summoning sickness to combo off.

HoboTSH says... #14

@Barkbeard_Wartooth: Nettle Drone is more versatile as it works as a win-con OR a trigger. Molten Nursery only fits the win-con side of the combo which is less important than having triggers like Zephyr Scribe and Nettle Drone since if you get rid of Nettle Drone the combo relies strictly on Zephyr Scribe to go infinite.

Not sure if you need it but there's a second Taigam's Scheming coming out in Eldritch Moon: Contingency Plan... just in case

Don't wanna be rude... but this deck is inconsistent as heck. You got a FOUR-CARD combo, without ANY digging/delving cards.

Wouldn't it be better to main deck Altar of the Brood and side board/get rid of Elusive Spellfist. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to be much more functional against most decks (as it is rare to find a deck that is designed to win on your turn).

Other than that this seems to be a great deck, absolutely amazing. +1

Swapped out Firebrand Archer for Reckless Fireweaver as the two card's effects are identical in this list. Reckless Fireweaver just has more survivability at 1/3 instead of 2/1.
