I just wanna point out that although the original post says other than the Power Nine, the list includes Ancestral Recall and Time Walk .

I should've clarified more, the "other than the Power 9" cards was in reference to the conversation I had with my friends. You're allowed to vote for the Power 9 if you want to,its up to you.

In my meta there are also a few cards worth a mention:
All cards that works well against just about anything. +1 from me :)

For pure nostalgia I have to say the Serra Angel gets my first vote.
Looking at the card now she's not all that great, but when I was 12 it was the game changing ultimate zOMG moment of countless casual matches with my buddies.
Today in standard I love my Blightsteel Colossus falling on turn 5-6 with Kuldotha Forgemaster with the help of a Mox Opal .
Add in the Slayers' Stronghold to haste it and is a fun rouge deck.
My $0.02 for 5 awesome cards.

My personal favorite power cards are as follows:
Back in the old days, Word of Command was the king card to have when playing black. Play any one spell of opponents choosing targets and mana tapped. Fireball a players own creatures.
Better is Balance . Evens out the playing field if you are getting the shaft. But really gives it to you if you have more land than a single opponent.
I think the best though has to be Nevinyrral's Disk . Resets the battlefield to a clean slate. Even gives your opponent a 1 round warning, but is great to have out as a threat if the battlefield gets too one-sided against you.

It's a tie between these three: Brainstorm , Dark Ritual , Demonic Tutor

I've honestly been able to pull off so many combos with this it wasn't even funny.
Turn 1: Black Lotus Mox Emerald , drop Elvish Piper Turn 2: Tap Elvish Piper for Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
(note: Was a vintage deck played on Cockatrice. Yes I realize the hand had an EXTREMELY low chance of ever turning out like that considering you have a 1 in 60 chance for two of the essentials...BUT STILL)

id say Phyrexian Obliterator , Platinum Emperion and Tinker because Phyrexian Obliterator can clear your opponents field without really doing anything except block and Tinker can get out Platinum Emperion turn one and thats pretty much game right there.

Jace really is a b****. But he's at the top, destroying standard for a couple months all by himself

Such a dirty way to increase your average deck rating. lol
Why did I think of this.
May 7, 2012 4:53 a.m.
There was honestly no bad intention for increasing my deck rating or anything like that, just doing it by likes is the easiest way to organize a numbered order of people.

I saw this deck within minutes of it being posted, and instantly I knew it would be the top-rated deck. Then I nearly forgot to post! STG, this is a cool idea and thanks for your generosity. If you ever do more of these contests, I would personally be interested in seeing one that asks for the best card at a single rarity (common, uncommon, rare, mythic).
In a vacuum, my vote has to go to Jace, the Mind Sculptor . He provides such an overwhelming advantage. I nearly gave Force of Will my vote, but I think JTMS has the edge since the freshly-printed Cavern of Souls takes a ton of power away from Force.

Hey, thank you. It means a lot (:
Its hardly much of a prize really, but y'know, I love this site and its got such good people, felt like something nice to do back in return - whilst also being pretty fun and interesting to do.
Also maybe I will do more competitions like this in future. Perhaps I will do that idea next, thank you for your suggestion. :D
I was also thinking of perhaps doing a Best Artwork vote too.
I'll have to be on the lookout for something better for a prize next time around. (:
