I was going to go with something very similar to this. You can turn 5 a Griselbrand +1 hot. I used Lord of the Void in a very old build instead only because he helped with board presence, Which in Gatecrash Extort struggled with. Although, If your swinging with a 7/7 your winning.

I'm not impressed with how Blood Scrivener did last night, having to hold cards in your hand for a proper time to cast them nullifies him. So he will be coming out. Likely for Tragic Slip or Smite . I need cheap combat tricks to stay alive.

Pontiff of Blight is a card that I just want it to be the one that says yes you will "get there". Just not sure about it. I think this deck is to slow against Agro. and Esper Control for my taste. If I could find a balance between your build and mine. Where it is still "speedy" but has some power.. I think Orzhov could be a thing finally.

The speed of how my deck played out last night was incredible. Now to find a crafty way to cram this sort of power into my deck. Where the hell is the Zombie Elvish Piper when we need him?

Could I get you to playtest this? I can't on my phone. Just don't take any hand with more than 1 cmc 4 or higher

@jph1234, Exquisite Blood is there for the instant win, when paired with Vizkopa Guildmage 's second ability.

Turn 6 win using the Exquisite Blood and Vizkopa combo due to a little ramp from Crypt Ghast

Look guys, that combo is sexy but a pain in the ass to pull off. Turn 5 you need Crypt Ghast and 4 Swamp and 1 Godless Shrine . Plus a Guildmage on the table already, cast the Blood then you have to cast another spell afterward or wait till turn 6. And HOPE your opponent doesn't have anything or is clueless to the trolling they are about to receive. I did this once and the whole LCS knew like I had just shit green in a town with 3 people in it.

The best advice I can give is that if you pull it off in game one, you side it out game two. Your opponent will be looking for it. So you pull out the Exquisite Blood and Vizkopa Guildmage and replace them with Army of the Damned , Angelic Skirmisher Crypt Incursion , Tragic Slip , Tribute to Hunger etc. Whatever beefs you up. I think that even Ready / Willing could get there in this.

So performed well in playtest?

As expected. I went for the combo. CMC doesn't matter so much as long as you have 1 plains and 1 swamp starting hand. I pinged myself for 3 and didn't extort the Sign in Bloods. Life link plus extort got you the survivability. Turn 7 was the fastest I could pull it off. Again luck of the draw man. If you want to force that combo into your hand, play the numbers and percentiles game a little and see if you can't drive The Ghast, EB and VGM into the 60% + draw percentile for turn 1-3.

Tweak your mana a little bit, drop to 4 Plains . Or (I can hear the Peanut Gallery Now) Use 4 Orzhov Guildgate . I finally gave in and bought an Isolated Chapel play set. That was painful at the low low price of $44 bucks for lands that are about to rotate.

Let the Nighthawks do their job and swap Orzhov Charm for Tragic Slip . Get that Morbid Trigger out of it. I use my Nighthawks as guardians primarily and attackers when I have Baron on board. and need a little more to hit his secondary skill set. Nighthawks are your 9-5'ers. Your Tithe Drinkers the same. They do work while your busy setting up shop for the grand Finale.

meant to say: Pinged myself for 3 each turn and did not extort the sign in bloods as they were cast but just ate the life for them.

This is far better than my build! Mine has more control elements to it though. Do you mind if I use this as a reference? Also, from personal testing I've found 3 Exquisite Blood is optimal. Gives you the best draw consistency while maintaining open spots for techs.

See you took a page from my book on Indestructible. :)

Good Call on +1 the Increasing Ambition .

I am thinking about splashing red for Dreadbore . So i can sideboard the o-rings. I am still not convinced of Avacyn in my build. My next thought is Pontiff of Blight and Army of the Damned and reworking with a lot of cheap spells.

I love this deck, I think it's much better than your previous extort deck. I got to play the infinite combo on turn 6 once witch was awesome. It went 5/4 vs my mill deck.

I usually have more suggestions for you, but with this deck, the tests were so good that I can't say more then just try to fit a fourth Tithe Drinker . Everything else just seems like perfect to me.

I'll make some tests tomorrow against my aggro deck, but for now, I like it a lot.

You should really try to fit Blind Obedience in, it'll help slow down the aggro decks (and you'll also get in some extra extort), and for removal I'm running Oblivion Ring , Pacifism and Stab Wound (I run enchantment removal to power up my Ethereal Armor s). Dead Weight is also a cheap decent removal (I think at least) that could help you out.

I really like Pontiff of Blight and the combo you have going on there and really wanted to include him in my deck Orzhov: Plan B too, but I like to play fast and aggressively and he seems a little to slow for my taste and Crypt Ghast is just too susceptible to removal for me to wanna place faith in him to ramp. Let us know how you do in your next tournament or something and if you do better than me this next FNM and I might rework my deck yet again to include aforementioned cards and make my deck more similar to yours.

+1 - Really like the Ramp into mass extort idea.

I have an Orzhov deck of my own, inspired by a previous one you've made - check out Orzhov Life Drain/Extort and drop some feedback if you can, please!

Cheers!

"Rain of gore" will neutralize your life gain and shut down the infinite combo. I hate Rain of gore.

Rain of Gore would only destroy this deck if Rain of Gore was Standard.....which it isn't...
