Did a quick playtest of the deck. It needs some drawpower. Trading Post isn't exactly mad drawpower. It doesn't even have to be mad drawpower, just like Divination or something.

@ brokendwarf -- Bident of Thassa ? I can convoke it out too.

Oh, duh. Yeah, find room for that. Made lose 1 Shock (it wasn't that spectacular in the playtest either)

Honestly ive made a deck based off yours, ill give you the link in case you have some ideas. Cards that i would consider...Polymorphist's Jest - works so well with the scuttler.

M15 Artifacts

@ brokendwarf -- How about a Shock and a Dissipate for two of them?

July 6, 2014 7:13 p.m.

@ Dropbear -- Hmm. Interesting suggestion. It doesn't really work with the rest of the deck though, which is why I'm inclined to run it.

July 6, 2014 7:15 p.m.

I'm not inclined*

Its a trigger for pyro, and a strong combat trick. Its makes even polukranos turn into a 1/1 and die to a pyro token. As you can see my version is more pyro focused.

The main thing is it makes the scuttler unblockable, so you can swing for 6 no matter whats on the board, then sacrfice using shrapnel blast for 11. On top of any burn you may have, they are very very dead.

July 6, 2014 7:19 p.m.

@ Dropbear -- I can see that. I'm actually trying to shy away from Young Pyromancer and prep this deck for rotation. I'm thinking of Generator Servant for a replacement.

i would suggest updating your comments section, its getting a bit long now.

July 6, 2014 7:20 p.m.

Was thinking the same thing. Let me do that now.

Seemsreasonable.

Honestly since rotation isnt till karns you still have till like october. I wouldnt bother prepping for rotation until spoilers for karns start showing up. This deck is both cool and super budget, so you dont need to worry about rotation too much yet.

July 6, 2014 7:22 p.m.

Dropbear! Let's resume that conversation. Polymorphist's Jest . Hm. If I was running a playset of the Doom Engine as my sole win con, I'd be much more inclined. However, he's not reliable for a win con since he's easily countered/removed. Plus I have my Ensoul Artifact s to hit with.

I'm concerned with rotation because I probably won't get my hands on Khans until December (college), and I want to have a Standard legal deck should I decide to go to a tournament while I'm down there (unlikely, but I'd like to be prepared).

Ah, I understand. Fair enough.

Well if you were ever planning to use those pyros, it might be smart to get a play set now while they are cheaper, in case they see more play in Delver modern decks. You're going to see a sharp price rise I think.

July 6, 2014 7:29 p.m.

@ Dropbear -- I think I'm going to work on finding a replacement for YP. Maybe Generator Servant . Maybe something else. There were some other suggestions a while back, but I can't remember what they were.

July 6, 2014 7:31 p.m.

Dropbear says... #17

Gen Servant is a good idea, though you cant tap for mana and convoke.. I think you need a reliable way of generating tokens.. Perhaps White is a colour you could splash into?

First Response, Return to the Ranks, Spirit Bonds, Raise the Alarm, Midnight Guard, Triplicate Spirits from M15 might be worth looking into.

July 6, 2014 7:35 p.m.

@ Dropbear -- Splashing white means a fancy land base, and I don't have the budget for that. Goblin Rabblemaster was one of my original thoughts, but his tokens probably won't live to see another turn.

July 6, 2014 7:40 p.m.

Dropbear says... #19

Mm, I just thought of him as well. He certainly generates the tokens but he's only really good against control.

Definitely a sideboard option?

July 6, 2014 7:53 p.m.

@ Dropbear -- Maybe. Drop Hellkite Tyrant and Elixir of Immortality for 2? Start preparing the SB for post rotation.

But for advise: Drop some lands (1-2) and add some more low cost artifacts. There aren't enough targets for your things.

July 7, 2014 12:34 p.m.

Scorprix says... #23

Actually, never mind and delete my first comment, it was very rude. But still, you don't have enough artifacts for your stuff to target.

July 7, 2014 2:53 p.m.

@ Scorprix -- Deleted your first comment upon request. Do note that the deck is up here and being constantly cycled so that it can be improved. Comments like the deleted one will not get either of us anywhere. If I may ask, how did you playtest the deck? Moving on, I agree that the deck lacks artifact targets, but I don't think dropping lands is best route. I'm working on finding a replacement for Young Pyromancer , which I can hopefully find in a low-cost artifact creature. I'm also considering dropping an Ensoul Artifact , and almost definitely dropping a Dissipate for 1-2 Bident of Thassa .

I'm toying with a GU version of this same concept.

The one thing I see with your deck is you need more small, utility creatures to power the convoke. Rite now all you have are the chef engineers and un-ensouled thopters.

I like Quickling in this deck. Can be used mid to late game to save your creatures from spot removal and early it pairs well with those same un-ensouled thopters. Vaule for days.

Really anything with a static ability, inspired, or a comes into play ability in the one or two mana range.
