If at all I would have Haunted Plate Mail in the sideboard for that reason. Board wipes don't seem to be that much of a concern in the standard format. It will depend on the FNMs that you attend but that's up to you. I do agree that Anger of the Gods lacks a bit of placement in the deck though.

@ Doomed_Traveler77 -- Profane Memento for aggro decks that will frequently lose their creatures. Mizzium Skin will replace Anger of the Gods in the sideboard.

@ C4bl3 -- Interesting suggestion, I'll have to try it out. Anyone else have input?

Regarding Haunted Plate Mail : It has a high equip cost. I'd much rather put my mana towards more powerful threats.

I do not think Haunted Plate Mail in this subject is for equipping it lol but for more of a sac outlet to Shrapnel Blast or enchanted with Ensoul Artifact or a 4/4 spirit for 0 mana to activate if you control no other creatures.

July 12, 2014 11:37 p.m.

@ GamerSonX -- That's a pretty expensive to just dump or turn into something else.

well then so is your Scuttling Doom Engine bro lol, hello?? anyone home? Chief Engineer artifacts have convoke......haha come on dude.

July 12, 2014 11:47 p.m.

@ GamerSonX -- SDE is also a 6/6 beater that can't be chump blocked. He also does a lot more damage when I Shrapnel Blast him. I don't want to drop mana into something that will rarely do anything by itself.

hey, like I tell everyone at my store, "It is your deck, play it how you want to."

Nice deck, +1 from me, impressive score! I have a Mono Blue version that I created with many of the same cards, I would appreciate it if you would take a look at it and leave me some feedback. Blue Steal

Here is my 2 cents. I don't really see Profane Memento making much of an impact so I would swap it out for Cyclonic Rift to bounce the entire board against control decks. I would also consider Polymorphist's Jest somewhere in your sideboard, combined with Shock it takes care of so many threats like Gods, Hexproof, and big Flying creatures.

I would also drop Izzet Keyrune to add Hour of Need . This is a game winning card for this deck. Turn your Ornithopter s, extra Engineers and Revokers into 4/4 fliers to finish off your opponents when your SDE's are being blocked or hiding in the bottom of your deck.

@ FrostyJams -- I like Polymorphist's Jest as a SB or even mainboard trick. I have to do some more playtesting before I make a decision though. I don't like Hour of Need because it costs a lot, and I can't easily cast high-CMC cards that aren't artifacts.

@ 3mouse -- I found that both SoNP and SDE are too many 6-drops, and SDE fits much better than SoNP.

I find that Hour of Need doesn't have to be a bomb dropper casting 3-4 tokens. I usually cast it for 5 mana to get 2 sphinxes and often drop an Ornithopter and cast it for 3 mana. Either way that's cheap for 4/4 fliers because they almost always turn the tide of the game. I run 23 lands as well and I never have a problem casting it early, its probably worth playtesting.

July 13, 2014 3:18 p.m.

@ FrostyJams -- Hmm that is interesting. But I could just add in Illusory Angel over that and keep my creatures. I'll have to try both out.

July 13, 2014 7:26 p.m.

GamerSonX says... #13

I agree with FrostyJams. Hour of Need has more utility to it than Illusory Angel does.

July 13, 2014 7:50 p.m.

I'm not sure about Hour of Need in main deck. Sideboard, maybe.

What about Aeronaut Tinkerer ? Our Darksteel Citadel ensure he's always flying.

P.S. And just in case it hasn't been brought up yet, Phyrexian Revoker naming one of the "Soul of..." creatures from M15 will keep your opponents from activating their abilities even when the Souls are in the graveyard.

July 13, 2014 8:59 p.m.

@ GamerSonX & SirHellsing420 -- I'm not sure about Hour of Need in the mainboard either, but what would I side it in against? Decks with a lot of removal? And I think either the Hour or Illusory Angel would be better than Aeronaut Tinkerer , but I don't think I like either creature that much.

have you considered Triton Shorestalker ? Wait what? When I was told this, I did a double take, and said WHAT?!? Then I started playtesting it and realized how good it was. It is a really nice t1 with ornithopter, and is perfect with the chief. Also, yes, Hypnotic Siren will make the deck just as explosive, but can be better late game. The only reason I don't play the siren is because there are some very annoying flying decks in my meta and the shorestalker gets through fast in my U/R aggro build. (Yes, it is actually relevant.) Good luck with the deck, and if you like my suggestion great! But remember, its your deck.

Love the deck and any good artifact brew. +1!

July 13, 2014 10:03 p.m.

@ BoardFire -- Interesting suggestion... Where would it fit, though?

July 13, 2014 10:05 p.m.

BoardFire says... #18

I don't think rapid hybridization fits, only because it can be annoying to deal with the token. Also trading post I found to be very redundant and it sits in your hand without the chief. Yes, it will have its moments, but the shorestalker/siren will be more consistant.

July 13, 2014 10:09 p.m.

@ BoardFire -- Are you taking into consideration of using Rapid Hybridization on my own creatures as well? It's an easy way to save SDE from an exile spell or "evolve" an Ornithopter that's already been declared as a blocker.

July 13, 2014 10:14 p.m.

Polymorphist's Jest and Circle of Flame together for sb

July 13, 2014 10:35 p.m.

BoardFire says... #21

No I did not, which I stupid of me because I play MUD for 4 months facepalm. How does shock work for you? It doesn't seem to be super helpful in this deck. Also, my statement about trading post still stands.

@ducttapedeckbox I really think you should consider Stoke the Flames at least sideboard. Potentially a two condensing your 4 Shock into two. I can't see what meta-relevant creatures we're removing at two toughness. I also think Hour of Need is a better choice at 3 cmc than Izzet Keyrune . Just does a better job at winning and stopping threats.

July 15, 2014 2:21 p.m.

@ BattleMasterBill -- I'd prefer to not sideboard an entire combo; I want utility that I can call upon whenever I need it in my SB, not a combo I need to wait for.

@ BoardFire -- Shock is an easy 1-drop to kill off small threats and such, but I will agree that it can probably go for something more effective. My concern is that I will already be using all of my creatures to convoke my artifacts into play with Chief Engineer , and it will end up being a 4-drop burn spell.

I'd like to get more discussion on that and Hour of Need vs. Izzet Keyrune . The former can provide a win, but the latter can set me up for the win with my previously-established win conditions. Thoughts?

@ IATEAREPUBLICAN -- Phyrexian Revoker serves that purpose and can also tap for convoke.
