Perhaps Thought Scour ? Someone mentioned above that you could take out Last Thoughts and I agree. There aren't too many 1cmc cards in your deck and Thought Scour could really help you out on those first couple of turns as opposed to waiting until turn 4 for the Last Thoughts cipher to kick in (given you're lucky enough to not miss a land drop, and get an unblockable out).

You make a valid point, Whyzguy. I will playtest with Thought Scour and see if it's better than Last Thoughts .

Thanks for the comment and don't forget to +1! :P

how about more Dream Twist for more mill

if your looking for tokens from tarland why not Undead Alchemist instead? He fits your mill theme a bit better although the zombie tokens don't fly.

If you have a second check out my deck Not Another Dimir Mill Deck, I would appreciate some feedback.

Have you considered Undead Alchemist ? Oh, the shenanigans!

February 17, 2013 10:19 a.m.

@ m12fox - I don't want to over-do on the mill cards, or else I won't be able to win a single game :P But I will consider it!

@ Faded - I might run one Talrand, Sky Summoner and one Undead Alchemist just for shits and giggles. I'll probably drop Consuming Aberration to three for that. I will also check your deck out in a second!

@ tmloyd - Above :P

Thanks for the comments everyone and don't forget to +1! :)

hey, well i saw your post on buffy's wall and said to myself, why not?

i believe Crypt Ghast is only here for Mind Grind so i think you should take both of those out 2 Jace, Memory Adept (hopefully still budget) and 2 Thought Scour and 1 Glaring Spotlight . also, the double black in Murder could be a problem so maybe a different target removal is better? you're choice on that one

also also, i don't like the idea of adding cards for "shits and giggles" just because it makes your deck worst. IMO tribal decks are the best because they constantly interact with each other to make them stronger. so, i say out with the Undead Alchemist and Talrand, Sky Summoner . talrand for sure, but if you insist on the alchemist, you need to have Undercity Informer .

Argh, my +1's haven't been showing lately. Should be there now.

February 17, 2013 1:32 p.m.

@ w999 -- I agree removing Crypt Ghast , but Jace, Memory Adept is out of my budget. I will remove the two Ghasts for two Thought Scour s.

Agreed on the Murder as well -- I was thinking Cyclonic Rift or AEtherize as two possibilities? They aren't target removal, but might work.

I disagree with your opinion on Talrand, Sky Summoner and Undead Alchemist -- both of them serve as alternate wins; with Consuming Aberration being one creature, it's rather easy to control. 2-3 tokens per turn are not as easy to handle (unless you remove the generator, of course). I've played a few decks with both of them, and even though I have yet to play Undead Alchemist , Talrand, Sky Summoner has won me quite a few games. I'll playtest some more and determine if they are bringing the deck down.

@ buffy -- it showed up, don't worry!

Thanks for the comments both of you :)

I think Cyclonic Rift cause its less rstrictive but it also allows the opponent to reuse etb and ltb effects. If you do keep them in, I think Undercity Informer is a must. It has so much synergy with the alchemist. Mill, creature into the graveyard, get a token, mill again...

February 17, 2013 5:15 p.m.

Ehh actually, Cyclonic Rift would cost a lot ($) in comparison to the rest of the deck :S I'm not sure if I want to add it because of that... But I will add in Undercity Informer . What do you think I should remove?

NeoHazard says... #17

What if you sideboarded 1 each Hands of Binding and Glaring Spotlight as the spotlight has less use if you go against a deck with no hexproof and one less Hands wont hurt that much, and add a couple Undercity Informer that way. Take a look at my deck and see what you think, same idea with a zombie theme Zombies ate my Cards

February 17, 2013 10:59 p.m.

tempest says... #18

how many do you want? i'm thinking 2-3 so either 3 Hands of Binding (you have quite a few 2 cmc cards) and as a result remove one talrand for another alchemist, or 1 Hands of Binding and 2 Invisible Stalker for 2 Undercity Informer and 1 card:Jace's Phantasm. you're cipher cards all cost 2 mana so if you really want to cipher them onto the stalker, then that would be turn 3. best case scenario would probably just be to cipher it onto card:Jace's Phantasm.

as for removal, Bone Splinters seems to fit the deck nicely

OFWGKTA says... #19

What I'm wondering is why do you have 4X Invisible Stalker in? Shouldn't you have something that can defend a bit more? They're not the focal point of your attack so why not replace those with a few Fog Bank 's instead?

February 18, 2013 4:43 a.m.

Thanks for the comments and +1's everyone! I will make changes after posting this, and please let me know what you think!

@ NeoHazard - I mainly have Glaring Spotlight for it's second ability, but now with card:Rogue's Passage, I can sideboard probably both of them. Hands of Binding is one of my favorite cards in the deck because it provides excellent control. I will check your deck out in a second!

@ w999 - I will probably remove 2x Invisible Stalker to max out card:Jace's Phantasm and add in Fog Bank . Fog Bank provides amazing defense against Boros decks (especially Boros Reckoner ). I will consider switching out Talrand for another Alchemist.

@ OFWGKTA - I think I've responded to your comment above.

Well, I saw your post for a replacement for murder. Aren't I pest. :) Tragic Slip ? Morbid should be easy if you have the alchemist out with an undercity informer

February 18, 2013 12:10 p.m.

tempest says... #22

Also, I take out 2 swamp for 2 island. Not getting the first turn blue mana.

February 18, 2013 12:11 p.m.

Compromise on the land. +1/-1 island/swamp :P

Tragic Slip would be nice, I'll try playtesting with that!

February 18, 2013 12:15 p.m.

Actually, a funny story about Tragic Slip . A guy tried using it against my Consuming Aberration and I just sat there... 13 damage is a scratch to a 35/35 :P

February 18, 2013 12:16 p.m.

Oh! another thing I wanted to bring up was.... Artful Dodge ?
