As ygamretuta said, you should add Tome Scour and Traumatize. I play them and they are really good at milling fast. Tome Scour mills better than Codex Shredder and Traumatize can easily mill 20 cards.

I love the deck, but want to suggest at least 2 Artful Dodge as your aberration can become a beast one hit kill (and because you are casting a spell (flashback maybe) it just becomes larger....

With the release of M14 overlapping with the cycling out of Innistrad and M13, I decided to give mill a whirl in standard to take advantage of the abundance of mill cards over the past two blocks and core sets. Not sure if you're still updating this deck, but my suggestions are as follows:
Replace Jace's Phantasm
with Augur of Bolas
, and Grisly Spectacle
with Barter in Blood
. Aside from the Aberrations, I try not to get too attached to any of my creatures because they tend to fall to removal or end up having to block aura'd-up fatties with lifelink and doublestrike. The Augurs let me filter through my deck and reload when I'm running low on mill spells.
As aggro matchups tend to be the hardest to win, I have chosen to mainboard 4x Crypt Incursion , siding them out only against low-creature control decks in favor of counterspells. This card has great synergy with Barter in Blood , as I can actually target my own graveyard in a pinch.
My own mill deck is not exactly a budget deck, as I run a playset of Snapcaster Mage s and a pair of Deathrite Shaman s, in addition to a full suite of U/B duals, but those card categories account for 99% of the price differential between our builds. If you're interested, check out my list: Standard U/B Turbo-Mill. If you have any input, I'd be curious to read it!

I recently built this deck card for card (with the suggested competitive add-ins) and I am having a blast! :) I was wondering though, a) @ ducttapedeckbox are you still working on this deck? and b) has anyone considered including Nightveil Specter ? I feel like its abilities could fit well into the theme.

@ducttapedeckbox could you take a look at my mill deck and let me know what you think? Its a pretty solid post rotation set up with some changes to come from theros.

So now that Millstone came back in M14 what about using it?
September 16, 2013 12:18 a.m.
Cause Codex Shredder is better? 1 mana cost and free to mill 1 card each turn. insteat of 2 mana for 2 cards :S

with a large amounts of low level scry about Codex Shredder
and Jace, Memory Adept
s +1 have just gotten so so much better!
but as Oregon said the ability to do it for free is what pushes the card up, but having a second ability like it does, allows use late game whilst Millstone
is litterally a mana sink all game and nothing else
i think Shipwreck Singer and Psychic Intrusion would be very good in this deck (assuming they turn out to be budget) lota control and a lota options with them

I agree. I have found the sec. ability on Codex Shredder usfull from time to time late game. Calling back Traumatize or Consuming Aberration other cards to finish the opponent.

ducttapedeckbox how about including some from theros set?4 of Nighthowler (to replace Jace's Phantasm )with 2 of Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver (to play with Jace, Memory Adept
Nighthowler and enchanted creature each get +X/+X, where X is the number of creature cards in all graveyards.
+2: Exile the top three cards of target opponents library.-X: Put a creature card with converted mana cost X exiled with Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver onto the battlefield under your control. That creature is a Nightmare in addition to its other types.-10: Exile all cards from all opponents hands and graveyards.

Looks okay. But if you just want a x/x creature there is also Wight of Precinct Six for 1B less, and it starts 1/1. But I can see the combination with the plainswalker ofc.

i'm suprised i haven't seen any mention of Death's Approach
at all...it is absolutely brutal in mill decks for only 1 mana and completely prevents regeneration AND ignores indestructible. i would definitely say consider AT LEAST sideboarding it if you haven't already.
my brother runs a pretty good mill deck and this thing is pretty much the only thing that truly scares my simic deck (and really all other decks i use) almost 100% of the time. he uses Grisly Spectacle as well but the Death's Approach is honestly just much more threatening because it's such a cheap cost and can ruin me early game when im tapped out. i know it doesn't mill, but when you have a card like Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker out it can take down some big threats, and early game its very effective too.

It would add a little to the overall price tag of the deck, but what do you think about swapping the Dimir Guildgate for Temple of Deceit ? It doesn't look like you have anything that takes advantage of you having gates out.
The temple is about $5, which is still about half the price of Watery Grave .

My Deck, Milling More or Less, was built around this deck, with a few things different. I had a question, in regards to Consuming Aberration , How many should I run in my deck? Currently I have a full play set of four. I lucked out at FNM and was able to get my hands on like three of them. Should I run all four, or just three of them, I know they are a five drop, but still I was thinking it should be fine since they get really big really quick.

Well I have played with this deck in a couple of FNM and against some of my friends decks - not budget decks. The reason I have lost to is almost always removal.. I found it hard to come up with the 2 black mana for Grisly Spectacle and Dimir Charm wasent always enought to kill some of the new 2 mana 3/3 green creatures, and slivers. I have been thinking a bit more about Doom Blade or some other removal that would work better early game against fast decks - and have Grisly Spectacle to suffle in vs. big things. Other than that it works pretty good. If you get a collar on your opponent early they got a hard time getting it of again. Good fun.
