I don't know if you got your answer about Bitter Ordeal but Gravestorm triggers off permanents going to graveyards and cards don't become permanents until they enter the battlefield.

Have you thought about changing this to a self mill deck and winning with Laboratory maniac, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, or Thassa'a Oracle?
