Persistent Petitioners provide a useful smoke-screen, taking attention away from your main strategy, while they could win the game by milling your opponent.

Your main thrust will be to beat your opponent using his/her own cards against them. Thief of Sanity equipped with Aether Tunnel gives unblockable attacks, mills 2 cards and gives you a card in your virtual 'second hand' each turn. With all the creature hate about, use Dead Man's Chest to turn the power of your opponent's creatures into cards in your second hand. Play cards from your virtual (exiled) second hand as if they were in your own hand, but using mana of any color.
