After I update the physical deck with the new cards, I think niv-Mizzet must go in instead of one of the big mana draw 4+ spells (e.g. tidings), and scrawling crawler, asinine antics and mockingbird should be considered as a high priority.

Just going to detail some of the design philosophy, not a guide.

Instants prioritised over sorceries to avoid opportunity cost of holding up mana. Where possible more costly spells with draw stapled on chosen. 1 mana "do 1 damage to opponents creatures" spells removed, as get that effect from the pinger creatures, so may as well have spells achieve more useful things like draw/counters/interaction. I've found the deck tends to fizzle if engines disabled or boardwiped, need to be careful not to overextend.

A tendency I always find with Izzet decks is to push the cmc as low as possible, flood the deck with as much efficient draw as possible, and yet still find yourself starved for cards. You also find you tend to - if you subscribe to the 8 of theory - to draw one sector of the deck, and miss drawing a different sector (e.g. all your burn, none of your creatures, etc.). Still not sure how to deal with this. One option is card selection (brainstorm, faithless looting etc.) rather than draw, to filter later, but you can't have too much otherwise you'll never have card advantage. My answer with this deck has been to put in 'bomb' draw spells to recharge your hand late game. But hard to get enough of these that are actually good value to fill out enough slots in the deck that you consistently draw into them.

Some cards weren't included because they'll draw too much hate, e.g. Charisma. Also avoided any infinites like Niv-Mizzet + tandem Lookout or Niv + curiosity/ophidian eyes, as I don't want people to feel like I'll be able to kill them out of hand, as then they'll actively be dismantling my board. Gotta sit right in that sweet spot of threat metre.

Also I don't run a tutor suite, mostly as a personal deck building challenge. Kind of lame when you can just always tutor that one combo piece or answer. Just build a solid deck lol. My exception is muddle the mixtures in this deck, as it's very conditional.
