Format Vision: Diverse midrange piles that try to gain advantage on each other through escalating greed, eventually being kept in check by low to the ground aggro and tempo decks.

every deck has multiple ways of winning

Plenty of mana sinks at all points in the game. Aggro decks don't run out of stuff to do, so you are pressured to finish them off at a reasonable pace- no Teferi self tuck nonsense.

Poor fixing but strong multicolor cards means that there is a significant cost to improve your card quality.

All cards have a clearcut weakness.

2 mana=1 card advantage

1 toughness is 1/2 a mana to kill.

1 and 2 mana creatures are 'ignorable' (3 or less power, no persistent CA) without additional investment (mana, cards, etc.)

Matchups have KEY INTERACTION POINTS- places for skill, outplaying etc. ie. -save removal for key permanents -save removal to respond to auras -wait until you can protect your important guy before you play it

Contentious cards: Smuggler's Copter - makes games run more smoothly and is hostile to control decks but it's annoying to deal with and would be everywhere
