I recommend taking Drift of Phantasms ,Fog Bank ,Gomazoa ,Guard Gomazoa ,Wall of Frost , and Dimir Signet . The defenders are basically useless with your commander and the signet isn't extremely useful in two colored EDH

Uh, the Defenders have good synergy with my commander though, as they have high toughness. Also Drift of Phantasms is in there partially because Transmute is useful and tutors are expensive.

I can take out Gomazoa and the signet though, those are reasonable cuts.

Undead Alchemist could mill like crazy If you keep hitting creatures.

Seems like it could be a neat card, thought I have no idea what I'm going to cut yet at this point.

I am working similar - if you want to have way too many cards or have already cut some of these and want to pass on what you think both our decks can benefit,

PLEASE HELP(EDH)

I'm trying to do work aroung the same idea, but there is some ideas you may wanna add to your deck : http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/milling-edh-22-01-14-1/

I would remove a couple of counter spell to free some space, you have to keep 1 focus : Mill your opponent. If a counterspell can help u mill ; do it , else, don't or think about it ( for exemple : FoW is always a good card.)

  1. Force of Will is worthless in a slow format like Commander, the only reason it's good in Legacy is that it stops turn 1 combo.

  2. Counterspells and removal are very important to survive in a format with huge bomby things going off all the time. But I was thinking of cutting a maybe 3.

I'll take a look at your deck and see what's going on.

well Actually, FoW is always good in EDH, because it allows you to always have a counter in hand even if you have no mana left. I only play EDH format, and my meta is really competitive, so yea, counterspells are needed, but if you put too much of them, you cant spend your mana too much on your gamic because you have to save some for counterspells. I am mainly playing Rafiq and I play around 4-5 counterspells max because I wanna kill fast for exemple. (My 2 mains are Rafiq and Sigarda but didnt keep the online list up to date)

Force of Will is really pointless in a non-competitive EDH meta, and EDH is a casual format, so keep that in mind when commenting on decks. Unless somebody says their meta is competitive, don't assume. Also I would avoid suggesting cards that cost more than $10-$15 as a general rule unless you know somebody has a lot of money.

Ok, sorry about that, I assumed my Meta was other's meta as well, which is not the case. I'll keep that in mind :)

No problem. Sorry if I seemed short with you, I've just had to explain that to so many people since Wizards made the first Commander precons.

Eater of the Dead seems like it would have a home here, especially against creature heavy EDH decks (Like the typical goblins player...or elves.) Mind Over Matter is excellent with Consuming Aberration and it's ilk, even without a draw engine to keep it going. Freed from the Real and Crab Umbra would also help a lot.

Eater of the Dead is already in the maybeboard, ready for inclusion when I can make cuts. I'm not so sure I want to sacrifice some of my utility and creatures for untapping power. Maybe if I have extra slots later, but it's not a priority.

Feel free to check out my Phenax EDH deck: Goodbye Library! [Prototype].

+1 (:

You should try playing cards or creatures that allow you to untap your own creatures. Things like Hidden Strings or Triton Tactics , while aren't the strongest of cards, can let you repeatedly tap big creatures for lots more mill.

I see you have a few in the maybe board, I'd definitely try out.

Triton Tactics is just terrible in EDH, I really hate the idea of running one-shot spells that aren't removal.

Hidden Strings takes a huge backseat to things like Freed from the Real as well, which is just so much better in this deck.

The problem is what to cut, I know I'm probably gonna drop Memory Plunder , but I think I'm dropping it for Thousand-Year Elixir or Akroma's Memorial .

Jaeyx says... #19

Yeah I agree they aren't the best cards for EDH, just naming the first cards with that sort of effect that came to mind. Freed from the Real looks perfect. Thousand-Year Elixir looks really good too. I'd probably just pick a creature to cut. It seems like you have a lot of them, and could spare one over anything else at least.

With virtually no card advantage and a low mana source count, you're going to have huge difficulty meeting your curve's needs and staying competitive.

Check out my version and tell me what you think. I'm considering removing Nighthowler , Bonehoard , and Silent Arbiter for the final cuts, but I haven't committed to that decision yet. Perhaps Dimir Doppelganger and Lazav, Dimir Mastermind :

Also, you seem to have absolutely no way to get Phenax back if he gets tucked. Tutors seem essential.

February 21, 2014 4:26 p.m.

Skyfolk says... #22

I don't need to stay competitive, I play Commander like it was meant to be played, casually.

Genocide_Pete says... #23

Ignore basic deck building strategies because you've divined that the format was meant to be casual? Seems rational.

February 22, 2014 10:52 p.m.

Skyfolk says... #24

I play casually, so I decided to make a more casual deck compared to my usual, yes.

Sentinel ?

I realize he requires someone to attack, although not specifically you, but the potential is amazing.
