An interesting idea might be Infernal Plunge . Because you aren't afraid of you creatures dying, it could be an interesting way of mana ramping while still having your creatures be useful, because they can come back anyways.

An interesting idea! What do you think I should take out, though?

You also could put in Goblin Arsonist s as something to play on turn one. Then if you Infernal Plunge , you can get one of your phoenixes out on turn 2, while also using your arsonist's death to most likely kill their turn 1 creature. I understand that it strays a bit from the whole phoenix theme, but I think that overall the deck would still be very predominantly phoenix-like, with the whole "from death come life" thing.

Hmm...I like the idea. I'll toy around and see if I can find anything 'expendable'.

I think you might want to take out one of the Chandra's, which ever one you prefer. They kind of slow down the whole "Beat you down with undying birds" thing, and dont really provide a good use until they ult or use their -X's, in which case they probably wont survive or you wont have the mana after casting them to make them useful. You might actually want to take both out. I would also take out the Chandra's Fury s, because it seems that you want to kill the opponent's creatures to pave a way for your phoenixes, and Chandra's Outrage does that much more effectively.

Basically, i would do this:-3 Chandra's Fury -2 Chandra Nalaar -2 Chandra, the Firebrand

+4 Goblin Arsonist +3 Infernal Plunge

I also really like the idea of Warstorm Surge , but it might be too slow. Playtest it, see how it works out, but you might just want to put in some good old-fashioned Pillar of Flame s in there. Hope this all helped!

whistles Woof, thanks for the advice! I'll see what I can do - I'd like to keep at least Chandra, the Firebrand in there, if anything so that I have an easier time of getting Chandra's Phoenix back to my hand without having to shell out extra mana later. I might end up taking out the Chandra's Spitfire s - they were there mostly because of how much burn I had.

I actually swung by to drop this information here, as this was the first deck I built coming back into the game.

The current manner in which we deal damage is dependent upon Magma Phoenix and Chandra, the Firebrand. Soulblast can be removed entirely, as it is highly unlikely you will have enough birds on the board at any given time to make effective use of it.

The Ruby Medallion playset does help a lot, but even with Infernal Plunge smoking a Goblin Arsonist, I find there just isn't enough mana to power these birds most of the time.

I propose removing both Soulblast, and installing two Koth of the Hammer in it's stead. Unless the planeswalker is countered, you have the opportunity to activate his secondary ability, which will resolve even if met with removal, such as Hero's Downfall, potentially generating enough mana to bring back multiple birds at once.

Again, this is all pure speculation, and you're free to do what you please. I'd also like to thank you for this deck idea, as I've had loads of fun with it in it's current condition.

Thanks for the tip, dettbizzle! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I'm glad you enjoyed running this deck.
