Creature (1)

Sorcery (1)

A mono-black devotion deck for modern competitive play. The goal of the deck is to maintain control of the board with removal and hand disruption while playing creatures that are hard to remove. There are games you win by simply keeping the board clear and beating face with a bloodghast and messenger. There are other games where you stall the board and blow them out with gray merchant.

The deck feels powerful with the amount of pressure you can put on someone. I only have two minor things the first is the land. There are a lot of times i feel flooded with land or in general have an excess of land with nothing to really spend it on. Especially with nykthos it feels like it's a little too much. I think the deck might need and x spell to make full use of the amount of land and devotion we have. Any ideas? The other minor thing is that i think we need at least one more area in the deck to help draw us out of mana floods which tend to be one of the only reasons the deck loses.

S/N: I've had equal success with messenger and nighthawk. But i think in the main night hawk might be slight better against a general field where messenger is nuts against jund type decks. My meta is more jund than aggro decks like affinity so i prefer messenger but nighthawk is no slouch.

I might want to add a lashwrithe to the deck not sure yet. Any pro's or con's?
