My favorite mechanic in the game has to be poison counters. If there’s anything that makes a grown man sweat, it’s poison counters, especially when they don’t have a hard counter for it! Poison is such a strong psychological stress builder, keeping opponents on edge from the very first encounter with the glorious Phyrexian nectar.

That said, this deck also makes my friends hate me when we play. I’m automatically seen as the group’s biggest threat before I even get anything on the table. It can be quite challenging to play against multiple opponents who know the deck and understand how it works.

I’ve made some adjustments to reduce my commander, Atraxa, Praetors' Voice, in her role as a proliferate engine, as she’s usually nuked as soon as she hits the battlefield. Typically, she only survives a few turns, but if I’ve already managed to add a poison counter to an opponent and she survives 2-3 turns, she’s done her job.

To add extra flexibility, I included Venerated Rotpriest as a way to sneak in additional poison counters whenever someone targets my creatures. Since I don’t run much self-targeting in this deck, I don’t fully capitalize on the Rotpriest’s ability, but he’s still a valuable addition.

There are plenty of ways to ramp poison now, so I think the deck has become much more efficient overall. I’ve also added some heavy mana cards that offer good control or buffs for mid to late game, which might help divert some of the threat away from Atraxa.

and if anyone actually follows this more then a random drop in I'm sorry if my updates usually isn't logged
