Ahh, forgot about the boots. I meant to pick one up when I bought the stuff for the deck. I do agree about draw. I am lacking, and I actually just cut a harmonize from another deck. I will add that tonight. x hydras don't really fit with yisan well, and that other hydra might be able to help me win earlier. Thank you for your suggestions Ancient_Sentinel

Whoa, I just found a pretty cool card for this deck: Cream of the Crop. It's in the same price range as deer testicles, and it helps you manipulate what you will draw.
It's not super fantastic, but if it is in, it also makes stuff like Lurking Predators or Call of the Wild much better.

Also, Strangleroot Geist and Avatar of the Resolute are a lot better than Garruk's Companion

Forgot about cream of the crop. That might be really nice in here.
The key for the companion is entering with the 3 power, and building 2 devotion. I think the avatar would replace him nicely.

My main need is boardwipe protection. Is there any potential protection at 5 or less cmc?
October 22, 2015 10:39 a.m.
How about Asceticism? It isn't the best boardwipe protection but it is something.

Already got that one in the maybeboard. Also, any budget suggestions from the last couple sets? Have not really paid much attention to them.

There is Eldrazi Monument but it isn't exactly budget. There is also Soul of New Phyrexia.

...I see that you already have both on these. Don't mind me...

I've got a perfect boardwipe solution for you, that works great for me, and it is under your 5cmc requirement. Greater Good. I know, you want something that stops their removal, but the next best thing is giving you a whole mess of cards as they go. Opponents may even think twice before boardwiping you if they know it's just going to help you out a lot. Along the same lines is Seedguide Ash, who gives you three forests straight to the battlefield if he is destroyed.

Also, I'm surprised you removed Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, since he is a wonderful preventer of boardwipes. Simply have mana available on their turn, and if they boardwipe, you turn their lands into 1/1 creatures. BOOM! The punishment for boardwiping is the destruction of their lands. Cruel, but remind them that you aren't destroying their lands, they are.

Kamahl is in the deck. I just removed him from the maybeboard because I got him, and put him mainboard a while ago. Greater Good is one of the best EDH cards out there. I just only have one, and since I was on a tight $10 budget for this deck, it was not in the mix. I am always looking to pick up another copy of it in trade though. I just forgot about it for the maybeboard. Adding it now. Thank you.
As far as seedguide. He is interesting. I usually like ETBs because they have immediate effect, and am not normally looking to ramp when Yisan hits 5, but that does give me a possibly good birthing pod target to 6. Not sure if that is enough, but will test it out in place of Thragtusk, and see.
Thank you for your comments. Anything else you can think of for this or any of my other decks is always appreciated.

Whisperwood Elemental is fine to help against wipes, and 5 cmc. You get an army of 2/2's you can flip afterwards, and it creates value every turn. I use it in my Momir Vig EDH and it helps build a board back after a wipe pretty efficiently.

Yes he would, and he is way cheaper then I remember. Thank you.

I can second the Whisperwood Elemental value train. He is my number two 5 drop tutor second only to Seedborn Muse which you should totally run

Seedborn is on par with greater good. I only have one, and they are in my Omnath deck. Def on the lookout for another.

I'm surprised more people don't do what I do when it comes to only having one of an expensive card and wanting to put it in multiple decks. I just print out a copy of the card to use as a proxy, and since you're probably only using one of your decks at one time, if anyone has an issue with you using proxies, swap out the proxies with the real ones in the other deck. It's a great way to save money, and you do own the card, so people shouldn't complain about that.

I understand people have different opinions on proxies, but mine is that I don't like them at all. Not even like that.
I do have some friends that use them in that way, and I am ok with that. I just would rather have the card in the deck. Makes it take a little more thought, and effort to put a deck together.
Though the idea that I have been thinking of is an EDH box. Getting one of each staple, and sorting by color. Having a recipe box of deck lists, and I would be able to make dozens of decks quickly, and easily. Would take a significant sleeve purchase though.
There have also been many threads in the forums about the proxy debate.

I have one, and it was in here on the first build. I thought it would be awesome, but turns out it did not work all that great. It was too slow, and since I try not to have creatures in my hand, sometimes hard to use. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Hey man, fellow Yisan player here.
Being honest I am also looking to how this deck can survive a board wipe. The only solution I've come up with are creatures that bounce a creature back to my hand.
There is really only two:
They can save important creatures but that's about it.
My other solution (again, kind of a weak one) is shuffling my graveyard back into my deck with Loaming Shaman. Nice thing is he has utility.
Let me know if you find any solid solutions! Good luck man

Seems pretty sweet. Maybe a bit more draw-card stuff, and some protection for the Piano Man? Harmonize, Hunter's Insight, Swiftfoot Boots, , Mask of Avacyn, maybe Sheltering Word for the big guys (if you ever decide to include something like Managorger Hydra or Primordial Hydra. Otherwise, this list seems solid.
