I did have Spike Feeder, but I took it out because it was just too situational. I mean, it made for a good blocker, and gaining 4 life was always nice, but he was really just pretty useless unless I had Archangel of Thune out, usually just ending up in a dead draw.

Blackwolfie, thanks man! :)It has actually been doing pretty well, I have yet to take it to an actual tournament though. Planning on taking it to locals soon. The biggest competitor in my play group is my friends Treefolk deck. He swarms in alot of creatures that attack with their toughness, and gives them all indestructible. He also plays a black midrange deck which gives me abit of hassle, but can be defeated. Once Worship hits the ground though, it quite often shuts both of these decks down - for a little while anyway. Atleast long enough for me to pull a winning card, Ajani's Pridemate attacking with a discard of Ghor-Clan Rampager, or hitting a 13/13 Dauntless Dourbark with Deflecting Palm usually does the trick.
Another friend has a thing for gimmick decks and built a W/R Double Strike Deck. Pulling a ton of equipment, attaching them all to a creature with double strike, giving it protection, swinging for a large amount of damage and using instants to bring the damage up even further. He has beaten me on quite a few occasions, once he pulls Sword of Light and Shadow there's pretty much nothing I can do if I don't have Worship on the field or a Creeping Corrosion in hand.
I also often play against red aggro, boggles, infect, and delve but this deck just plows through them thanks to me side board, Celestial Flare and Paraselene really make the Boggle players day.
However, members of my playgroup are now looking to cards such as Torpor Orb and Stigma Lasher to stop me. No one has put any of them into their decks yet, but the idea is out there. If they do, I may have to side in some nonland permanent removal.
Anything else you want to know?

+1... i have been playing a similar deck with great success. look at introducing Ranger of Eos to fetch your sisters; it can also fetch Champion of the Parish which doesn't grow as fast as the pridemate but still gets big.
I use Purphoros, God of the Forge and Fling as alternate win cons, which might work for you as well.
i like the Spirit Bonds and will definitely give that a whirl...my versions of that is Genesis Chamber + Suture Priest; you give them a creature sometimes but they lose a life for that creature.
if yo have time, check my version out: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/soul-sisters-and-their-cowardly-brothernorin/

dyl_o_ville I did originally have Ranger of Eos instead of Fauna Shaman, but I wanted something that could search more than just 1-cost creatures. I am considering putting him back in alongside Fauna Shaman though.
I do think Champion of the Parish is a bit slow though, and he's quite situational. He would only really be used if Norin the Wary was out. Those two together would be pretty good, but that's still only +1/+1 every turn. I would put him in if there was a card exactly like Spirit Bonds for Humans though. I can see how he works well in your deck though, the majority of your creatures are humans.
I have also tried out Purphoros, God of the Forge and wasn't that big of a fan of him, for the same reason as before. His 2 damage won't be fully utilized until Norin the Wary is in play. Again though, I can see how it works for you. That 2 damage will stack very nicely with Suture Priest + Genesis Chamber. He is a card I have been considering putting back in though, I might just put one in the main board and see how that does.
However, Fling is a card I've never even come across before. I will definitely try it out!
One thing I like about Spirit Bonds is the flying. In my playgroup, barely anyone uses creatures with Reach or Flying, so having some 1/1s to attack in the air and get buffed by Archangel of Thune is always very nice.
Having a few more win cons might be nice though, besides just getting a big Ajani's Pridemate until I can pull Archangel of Thune.
I'll check your deck out now!

Rather new around these parts, but just wanted to say thanks for your wall of description. Started to put together a life gain deck, but it has a lot of small creatures and Ajani's Pridemate, and I found myself relying too much on Felidar Sovereign, who was my inspiration, then screwed when he was destroyed prematurely before next upkeep. I'll try to modify it a bit with a few of the suggestions you listed and maybe I won't continue to abandon it.

All the enchantments except Oblivion Ring and maybe spirit bond need to go if you're going for a competitive soul sister deck. Otherwise life gain and the win factors are lowered.
You may wanna decide if you wanna play "Taxes" or "Soul Sisters".
Other than that I like some of the idea of it and would love to see something new to Soul Sisters.

I did originally play a regular Soul Sisters deck, but the life gain just wasn't enough. I have tried a whole load of different ways to build the deck, but this one is probably the most successful so far.
I'm not too bothered about whether the deck is competitive, as long as it's fun. I am yet to bring this deck to an FNM, but it does incredibly well in my play group. The pillow fort allows me to build an even bigger life total, and stalls time to build huge Ajani's Pridemates and an army of 1/1 Spirits.
If I just focus on either one of Sisters or Taxes, I can be shut down very easily by side board play. Back to Nature and Torpor Orb run rampant in my play group's side boards. If I lose all my enchantments, I have the life gain to fall back on, and if I lose the life gain, I have the enchantments to stall until I can draw an Oblivion Ring.

Barbs+luminarch is so ballsy, I love it.
And archangel + kusari is SUCH a cool interaction, and with a pridemate or two out?! Holy shit.
Im definitely gonna playtest this when I get off work,
But as much as I hate being that guy I gotta say you need at least two more lands,
Personally looking at this list, I would run 23 or 24, but i love being able to keep 2-land hands with a high-curve deck and still make every land drop through turn 4.

Usually the life gain is enough to basically void the life lost through Manabarbs anyway.
Hm, I've never really had much of a problem with not getting enough mana, especially once Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx hits the field. My main problem is just finding stuff to take out, what would you suggest I take out to make room for the extra lands?
Lemme know what you think could be improved after your playtest too! :D

Ugh, typical white deck player, always needs safe spaces, lol. This legitimately looks like a really fun deck to play with.

Safe spaces are happy places!
Thanks, I really love playing this deck, it is a ton of fun!

leyline and sphere will make space for more lands, but keep the leyline in the sideboard. this is, of course, for a larger fnm meta, as not every deck has targeting. in a deck like this, you dont want dead cards, and the sphere of safety, while a fun card, is too slow for what it needs to be doing: stopping early attackers and prolonging the game.I love the deck, and am always looking for different versions of soul sisters to play.
August 6, 2016 11:41 a.m.
I never actually considered taking Leyline out, it's incredibly useful against my play group so it's just stayed in the main board. I didn't even consider a larger meta. I'll revise the list soon and move it into the side board, possibly pick up a second one for SB play.
However, Sphere - for me - has never been a card to stop early attackers. I've found it works well in the mid-late game to stop swarming, or even force my opponent to choose between swinging or casting. By this point I usually have a respectable amount of enchantments, and Manabarbs makes it even more of a threat.

As it stands now, I'd say Elspeth > Nahiri. If you put at least 3x Nahiri and an Emrakul in here, it's Nahiri > Elspeth.

I made a pillow fort deck before I knew what they were, and kept evolving it, but it was all defense, stall, and eventual mill.
This 3 part life gain, defense, offense path is far more sophisticated. Is there any reason why you didn't include martyr of sands? you only have a few nonwhite cards. I expected to see it for sure. It seems you could gain hundreds of life with emeria. and it seems like a single martyr could do the job of a dozen warden interactions.
March 20, 2020 10:07 p.m.
I did initially have a playset of Martyr of Sands in here when it first started out as a basic net decked Soul Sisters deck. Over time, the deck evolved into my own creation. It's went from a mono white deck, to white green, to white red and now a mix of all 3. At the time I went to W/G, there weren't enough white cards to justify Martyr anymore and I just haven't added her back in since. I've never had a problem with lifegain with this deck and I'm currently not really looking to improve it. One Martyr may serve a dozen warden interactions, but I consitently have multiple wardens/attendants on the field with a Norin triggering them at every end step. If I ever feel the lifegain is starting to feel lack luster, I will certainly put Martyr back in.

Good point! I piloted several Martyr of Sands recently, and I hated how it makes you accept lower life. Or stall to play cards, wardens all the way!

Cool deck! It would be fun to go up against with my Angel Deck which is also super heavy on Lifegain, it just goes about it differently than yours.
Lifecreed Duo is a new soul sister bat bird version, maybe worth a look if you want to stack even more ETB lifegain. I like that Sheep you've got in here, it's like a better version of Mentor of the Meek.

Also maybe Cleric Class for doubled Lifegain and +1 counters for lategame
October 30, 2024 5:39 p.m.
Craeter I'm good with the lifegain at the moment with the sisters, but if I needed more I'd splash green and add Essence Warden.
Same applies to Cleric Class really. The +1 counters are nice, but Voice of the Blessed is usually enough to win me the game on it's own.
