I took Vraska the Unseen out during the War of the Spark update. She's wonderful in a budget build, but frankly her +1 doesn't do anything, and thats not something this deck can handle at this stage. Her ultimate was wonderful, back when I could use it.

I know you've mentioned Tabernacle, but are there any other upgrades you've held back on for budgetary reasons? I've been trying to acquire certain cards before they get 'too' expensive. I travel for long periods of time, and last time I came home, Gaea's Cradle shot up to almost a G. I couldn't believe it!!! I just finally made the plunge and picked up a set of revised duals. Some of the only other cards I've considered atm are Cradle and a Wheel of Fortune. I am a single dude with not much family, who travels ALOT for work. So Magic is one of the few OG hobbies I sink money into now and again haha. Tabernacle is sooooo not happening though hahaha.

Yeah, the Dual Lands for sure. Frankly any reserved list card I consider out of my budget these days. I did pick up a few many years back, like Grim Monolith for my Jhoira's History Storm (Queen of the Void (Eldrazi EDH) at the time) and a Wheel of Fortune and Raging River for my General Beatdown deck (although wheel has since moved to Fireheart), but theyre not cards I can get anymore and I'll likely never own second copies. When it comes to non-reserved list cards, this deck really doesn't have budgetary concerns or considerations.

Thoughts on the new Kaya!? she's down with doubling season!

I would not judge a planeswalker based on how they interact with Doubling Season, that being said, I have been thinking about Kaya the Inexorable a lot. Her Utter End has been a big factor when considering the power of this card. She feels like a better Vraska, Relic Seeker and she plays very kindly with cards like Kethis, both when it comes to protecting him and bringing back the Legends he exiles. I think I am likely to include her in the deck, likely replacing Vraska, as much as I adore Vraska's art.

Thoughts on the newly spoiled card Carth The Lion from MH2 for this deck? He seems great here

May 26, 2021 2:46 p.m.

heinrichgraum says... #8

Carth the Lion is an auto-include for this kind of deck. Digging for walkers is really neat and an ability I enjoy, especially early on in the game, and the fect that he can trigger later too while folks are trying to stop the deck from getting too overwhelming is pretty nice. Its like the card draw effect I miss so much from Leovold, Emissary of Trest . The real power definitely comes from that second ability. Beyond just making everything tick up faster, it makes all ultimates cost one less, and every minus becomes more accessible without losing too much progress towards the really game ending abilities. He is incredibly powerful, to the point where I am not super stoked to see cards like this printed. It exhausts me a little when Wizards puts out cards the need to be run in every deck of a certain architype.

Maybe try adding the new Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider as another doubling season-style effect and a creature to defend your planeswalkers. He might be too mean though.

He's a high mana cost, easy to remove obvious threat. Best case, he eats a Doom Blade . Frankly, I think he's much better fighting against superfriends than for it as his haste makes him great for removing chunks of loyalty and hurting new walkers and walkers trying to plus into removal. I think many lists will run him, but I personally am not very hot on the card.

heinrichgraum says...#3 "If cost weren't a factor the #1 card I want to get for this deck is The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale , which if you do also swap out bitterblossom for Pendrell Mists for a second copy of the ability."

Hello heinrichgraum, you mentioned swap out Bitterblossom for Pendrell Mists and adding The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale . What would you sub the Tabernacle for? The Maze of Ith ?

Also what would you sub out for Carth the Lion ? Would you trade it for Reki, the History of Kamigawa ?

heinrichgraum says... #12

Hmm good questions. After much debate I think that I would probably cut Fabled Passage for Tabernacle, since Maze of Ith is so valuable if they are willing to pay the tax, where as fetching basics is alright. As for Carth the Lion I am thinking of swapping out Evolution Sage , which, while very good, fills the same roll, as I cannot make multiple land drops per turn save fetching and is non-legendary, preventing cost reducers and tutors and reanimation from working on it.

What do you think about Out of Time as a replacement for Bontus last reckoning? You can proliferate it and it gets commanders, plus it adds to enchantment them.

June 24, 2021 4:35 p.m.

heinrichgraum says... #14

I prefer a board wipe that takes the creatures off the battlefield. What it mostly comes down to is how easy it is to recover from. Killing everything makes folks have to recast commanders, play out new bodies or reanimate the old ones, which is time and mana consuming. Recovering from Out of Time is as easy as casting a Naturalize or Reclamation Sage , which I think makes it less useful that it might look.

Thoughts on Damn replacing Bontu's Last Reckoning . I tend to struggle with my artifact hating meta that saps my mana resourses and having a turn without untapping my lands is proving ruff even with the low cast.

I also tried the The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale and Pendrell Mists , but they don't seem to have much impact in the games in my meta that features a lot of ramp, unless I face a token deck...then the token players just focus me down in a rage. So I"m going to take them out. Any ideas for how I can add more ramp into the deck. I did swap Nissa, Vital Force for Nissa, Who Shakes the World as I run the original Dual Lands and when played, the extra ramp from forests are nice.

I do think Damn is a quite suitable replacement, its v flexible and does just what you need it to do. As for ramp, if artifact hate is such a problem, there's plenty of very good green spells that work snagging lands. Burgeoning , Three Visits , Nature's Lore , Hour of Promise all come to mind. Weathered Wayfarer is also pretty solid, if a little more fragile.

Hi, heinrichgraum. Thanks for the suggestions. Any thoughts on Karmic Justice or is exile, bounce, and sacrifice too common in commander?

Also, any thought on the Forgotten Realms release impacting your deck? Such as Lloth, Spider Queen?

August 1, 2021 11:33 p.m.

heinrichgraum says... #18

I think Karmic Justice is a metagame consideration. If your tables play a lot of destroy over other forms of removal I do think its fine, if a little weak. It has the big issue of not affecting folks killing walkers through combat and not doing anything if folks play around it. Its part of why I like things like Carth, and Leovold before him, which offer card advantage in exchange for your permanents being removed. If you want to use Karmic Justice to protect your other enchantments I would suggest Sterling Grove instead.

As for AFR, nothing I saw there really interested me for this deck. I think Lolth, Spider Queen has the tools, Card Advantage + Protection, but I'm unsure she has some of the inevitability that many of the other walkers have. She reminds me a lot of Ob Nixilis Reignited , which I cut for similar reasons some time ago. A similar card that I think is a better version, which I am always considering for this deck is Liliana, Dreadhorde General , which does have that crucial inevitability.

Hi heinrichgraum, how would you fit Kaya the Inexorable into your current deck?

Any thoughts on adding Kor Haven or Norn's Annex for redundencies to Maze of Ith and Sphere of Safety

August 12, 2021 10:07 a.m.

heinrichgraum says... #20

I was going to swap out pirate Vraska for Kaya, but then Kasmina, Enigma Sage snatched that place from her, so if you really want her, that's what I would probably swap out.

Kor Haven is a generally worthwhile land, if you want it I'd lose Fabled Passage or Prismatic Vista, as for Norn's Annex, it doesn't actually stop anyone from attacking, so it and other Propaganda style effects aren't really worth it. Sphere of Safety being an exception because of how incredibly well it scales.

Hello heinrichgraum. Thoughts on the spoiled Wrenn and Seven?

August 21, 2021 12:25 a.m.

heinrichgraum says... #22

I think it needs a lands deck to shine. This is absolutely the wrong shell for that kind of walker. However in a lands deck, I think it has wonderful potential, and I will consider it for the next round of upgrades for my Omnath, Locus of Rage deck whenever that comes around. This biggest thing against it is it costing five mana, which is a lot, and means you wont be able to ramp very well since you'll have probably played the lands out of your hand by then, so it needs several other ways of filling your hand before it can be great.

Hello heinrichgraum will you be using the new Terferi or other MID cards ?

September 12, 2021 6:34 p.m.

heinrichgraum says... #24

No, all three of the MID walkers seem fairly weak or niche. I am waiting with baited breath for the new Sorin, bc he's got a good track record of playable cards for the Superfriends architype.

Your deck is awesome friend! it is actually legendary! I would love to pilot a deck like yours :)

Since your deck is legendary I would recommend you to try legendary lands, because you can benefit from Kethis, the Hidden Hand, Primevals' Glorious Rebirth and Captain Sisay (she can fetch you a land if you need to!).

Here are some you might wanna consider: Flagstones of Trokair, Eiganjo Castle, Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers, Urborg, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Shizo, Death's Storehouse and Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth

See you around :)
